Favorite farm life sayings

The first time that I heard it, was in the movie Rio Lobo (my favorite John Wayne movie). An old rancher (who was played by Jack Elam) uttered that phrase.

I believe it was Arthur Hunnicutt in El Dorado.

All three are basically the same story, all starred John Wayne, and all were produced by Howard Hawks.
