I want to thank everybody for the inputs.... Yes! Definitely not all valves are made equal. I found and installed a used 2-spool Gresen 2702, and boy, what a difference.Really smooth. The only problem there is a very small leak by the left spool plunger. I suppose it would be a seal/O-ring. This is not a major deal after the spring is removed from the back, is it?

Usually a simple fix, you can remove the spring if you want but I usually pull the handle off and pull the spool out of the body, replace the o-rings or x rings. If the control block is above the res you don't even need to shut the lines off. BUT PLEASE bleed all the pressure off the bank before taking the spool out or you may get a unwanted bath with oil. Okay CJ, I'll give it a go. Unfortunately the tank is elevated so I have to drain it first. I wish there was another way. By bleeding, I assume you mean moving the handles in and out.

Yep move the handles in and out a number of times with both spools so the bucket is completely settled. CJ
