the bail outs are exactly why i wont buy a GM or Chrysler.. period

Well that narrows the search down, if you want to buy American.

With that way of thinking I'm just curious, what train would you take? :)

I fill the same as you do.

But, I also felt the 2010 Ford truck line was a better quality truck (my opinion). I've always been a GM man until this year. I will not buy another GM product, period. I am now a new owner of a Ford truck.

I won't buy another GM, not because of the bailout, but because of the forced bankruptcy giveaway to the UAW.

I'm sure you guys all returned the stimulus check that "W" sent you.

Some of you blame the job lose in your communities on GM, but you drive foreign vehicles.:confused2:

Would we be better off with no GM at all?

I think we forget what GM has provided this country for years. Good jobs that someone could raise a family on. When we turn our backs on American companies like this we are really hurting ourselves.

Have you seen the amount of Chinese Products in the stores at all? These are products Americans produced at some point. Wake up people!

Ford had big fleet sales this year that they didn't have last year, so to be fair their numbers might not continue at that pace. What shocked me the most is that the Ford Ranger is selling at twice the pace of the other small trucks. That truck design is about 10 years old! It was due to be retired a couple years ago after they milked it to the grave, but then the gas prices went up. It says a lot about the original design to continue to sell the way it does. I love the Rangers - bought new ones 2 times - but still surprised at the sales numbers.

When you get it right, why change it?:D Unfortunately, many manufacturers do change things, sometimes for the worse. My 2001 Ford Ranger 4dr supercab has 70k miles on it, averages 18.5 mpg with the biggest (4.0L) engine, automatic transmission, air-conditioning, tilt wheel, 6-CD changer stereo, cruise control, sliding rear window, intermittent wipers, frame mounted trailer hitch, power steering, brakes, mirrors, and door locks. In other words, it has everything except power seats, which I don't need anyway. So I figure it ought to be good for another 10 years.:D Of course, I've only had it a little over 5 years myself; someone else put the first 36k miles on it.

I had the same setup as you Bird in a 90's Ranger. Can not remebmer the year but it was probably a 1995 or 1996. It was a short bed step side 4x4 with a auto and the 4.0L engine. It was a good rig. I towed a 4,000# boat with it all over Indiana and Kentucky and a few time into Tennessee. It would flat stomp the 4.3L I had in my 89 S-10 Blazer. Took a head on collision to do it in. Me and my father both got hurt but walked away from a wreck we should have been killed in.

Scary.
I really liked my 96 Ranger (green). Wish I'd kept it instead of trading it for a Subaru Forester.

Chris, when I was teaching my grandson to drive, the program I used included learning about your vehicle, the instrument panel, etc. and used a 1999 Ranger for their example. It was exactly the same as my 2001, so I don't know how long Ford stayed with that same thing, but it was a good one.
