Fed Ex - A Lazy Bunch

Amazon guy just arrived tonite —- 9:15pm EST. Our ring doorbell alerts me and I go to the door.

I ordered a paperback book. $7.99 novel. Colton Shaw series. Ordered on Friday and arrived today. It’s all he had for me.

Guy looked beat. I asked him when he started today. Said 9:30am and he had maybe 90 minutes of deliveries left.

I reached for the package. He said he couldn’t give it to me until he took a picture of the package by the door.

Ok.

Nice enough guy.

I still don’t understand how I can buy a book (that costs $10.99 at Barnes & Nobel) from Amazon for $7.99 and get it delivered to my door the next day.

How can you buy a single drill bit for like $2.50; and it ships from the PRC, and yiu have it in 5 days? But an oversized letter at the PO, mailed in state, costs like a $1.75 to just mail?

FedEx should change their motto to ...

When it absolutely, positively has to get there at some point.
I think that this is one reason why they are finally merging FedEx Ground and FedEx (Air).🤞

Hopefully get there at least. We have had all kinds of problems with Fedex. I once had a Fedex driver leave two of my packages two miles from my house in the brush next to a gate to a logging road. Literally not a house in sight of where he left it. Luckily a buddy of mine was riding his four wheeler up there and found the package with my name on it and brought it to me.

Just 20 minutes ago, FedEx dropped a huge Styrofoam cooler wuth a dry ice warning off on the porch. Didn't order anything, and checked address before opening (which I don't really feel is my responsibility), and it was for someone 3 miles away, on totally different road, and the numbers weren't even close.

After checking address, and realizing it was wrong, I did make sure it wasn't Omaha Steaks, but was Nuetri system, so I ran it down the road and left it in the driveway.

If it was Omaha Steaks or something good, I might have opened it...

Edit: mostly joking about opening it; but I don't routinely check the address of packages, and I do feel it's on the delivery company to drop off at the right house
So today, a neighbor calls me, that someone on the local FB group was looking for my wife. Neighbor is chatting with this person, and turns out they had wife's package. They didn't want to hear from the husband, and eventually neighbor talked them into letting me pick it up, as long as I had a photo ID, with an address matching my wifes... (wife is at work, and normally doesn't get gone till around 8)

This is the house I dropped the cooler off at; and I guess they asked my neighbor on FB why I didn't take the package to their porch. It was a 800 ft driveway, brokered by horse fence on both sides, until about 200 ft from the house, where it opened up to a work shop, yard, ect; and I figured, I ain't walking or driving up past their fence and work shop, that's a good way to get shot.
