My 4010 manual is severely deficient in 3 areas:
1. HOW to get the FEL into float. They tell you where but don't tell you HOW.
2. Where float is on the 3 ph. They plain don't say. It's in the middle. You can test this by lowering the lift arms below max a bit and then see if you can lift them by hand. You should be able to.
3. How to start in cold weather. There is NO glow plug indicator light. I put a test light on one of my glow plug leads to figure it out. With the test light, you can manage to turn the ignition key to the point just before the starter is engaged and see the light come on. Hold it there for 5 seconds or until you hear a click (or the dash indicator come back up bright). Personally, I never experienced either of these or ever have. The best procedure, without the test light, is to place the range selector in either L or H and turn ignition key to "start", hold for 5 seconds, then set the range selector to N to start. Works also if the PTO button is pulled, held 5 seconds and then pushed in.
Three strokes with a wet noodle for the JD manual writers.
Another snafu is in the LX4 manual regarding where to put the lift pins. I doubt the LX4 can be used with any model JD with the lift pins in the upper position without using iMatch, if using a top link, because the top link will be longer than the lift arms with the lift pins in the upper location. It's then geometrically impossible to raise the LX4 tail wheel off the ground.
