Has anyone ever considered building a FEL by adapting a skid steer loader arm assembly.

I know where I can find a burnt out skid steer (I think Bobcat). The machine is ruined due to a cab fire, and has been standing for perhaps 2 yrs. It just struck me that modification might be better than fabricating from scratch. Arms, bucket, pivot points etc are already there and are much stronger and of higher quality than I could ever do myself. If I were to have the assembly torched off on the arm stays either side, then I could fabricate a suitable sub-frame for the tractor and hopefully have only minor modification to the loader arms etc.

All that would then be needed would be new lift rams and hydraulics.

Any thoughts on the practicality of this project. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
