GlueGuy, your solution is so simple. I was hoping for something bizarrely complicated so I could--yes, you're on target, Mike--justify the purchase of an M9000 Mudder. Maybe I'll tinker with it or just put on my hearing muffs.

What is the point of the little flat thing anyway? Just a safety thing to prevent lowering the loader?

Does anyone use it?

I assume that's the only purpose. I have used it when I use my loader to lift the front of the tractor to remove my belly deck. I dont want some strange occurence to hit the stick and drop the loader when I'm bending down there.

I'll tell you a really stupid thing I did the first week I had my BX, which was made even more dangerous because that plate was misaligned. My son was on a ladder painting the house. He had nothing chocking the ladder. So I figured I would chock it with the edge of the loader. So while he's on the ladder I carefully put the edge of the loader next to the bottom of the ladder. A dangerous thing to do, especially given my novice operator skills. But my focus is on increasing my son's ladder safety.

Then I flip the plate down so a bird doesnt land on the joystick and move it. But the plate is misaligned; when I flip it down it actually presses down the joystick and raises the loader. The edge of the loader snags on the bottom of the ladder and lifts the whole thing about 6" off the ground. The ladder jostles but doesnt fall, and neither does my son. The paint can came falling down, though, all over our flower garden. I carefully lowered the ladder to the ground, and never again tried that trick.

I made it a point to go to the dealer's shop and tell this story to all the personnel. The possible tragic consequences of a small misalignment of an overlooked plate.

JD has the best system. A lever switch that completely decouples the joystick from operating the loader.

Guess I am lucky. The joystick does not rattle BUT the lock mechanism is dangerous. I too have had trees reach down and grab the joystick. I have used heavy rubber bands in combination with the lock with good results.

A positive lock lever would be the best solution guess there is ONE advantage green and blue have over orange.

I do, however, like the position of the FEL controls on Kubota. Seems more logical.

I too have the rattle in the joystick, and I too think the locking plate is cheesy. My buddy owns an identical 2710 with the same joystick rattles as well. From reading this thread, I gather that some of you do have the rattle and some of you don't. Of those that don't, at least one of you "fixed" a rattle that was there previously with rubber washers. Can I get a "show of hands" on who has the rattle (or had to fix it in the past) and who never had a rattle? My suspicion is that we all have it, but some of us fixed it, while others of us are getting increasingly annoyed by it. I am just curious if some of the dealers had better assembly, and therefore no rattle, or if it is inherent in the design.

I had a rattle in FEL joystick. Mine came from the locking plate. I tried tightening the bolt but not much different. I just took it off. Even with the plate on and engaged, I could still lower the loader slowly with the joystick.

My rattle is not from the locking plate. Its the stuff inside the box, which all seems very loose. I'm no good with tools or mechanics, but if someone comes up with a step-by-step fix, I would attempt it.

Paul T, My b2910 has "the rattle" also. I'm like most here, just learning to live with it but would like to find a fix.

I really have never noticed a rattle on my 2710. Haven't done anything to it.

New B2410 with a FEL Joystick rattle. Only rattle on the tractor and it is the metal washer that makes the noise. Yes, I will try the rubber washer to fix. Hope it works. Otherwise, I'm a happy camper!
