Rubber washers cured 90% of the rattling problem, as GlueGuy recommended.

I have an L3000 with not much of a rattle in the joystick but I have a vibration in the 3PH lift control lever between 1500 and 1800 RPM that drives me crazy, and some days it's a pretty short trip.

I have tried a leather shim between the lever and the slot that guides it, but the lever is made out of metal that is just too thin. I end up stuffing a pair of gloves against it and the fender, but that's a pain if your moving the 3PH up and down frequently.

All the levers that go through fenders on my 2910 have what looks like poly tubing rapped around the levers. I'm sure your dealer should be able to find one that will work on your L3000. Or go to local hardware and get some lightweight tubing to slide over levers.

Thanks, I'll try that. I also plan to make a tie rod to go between the fenders just behind the seat to keep the fenders from shaking when I drive up the dirt road I live on. At about 1800 RPM the fenders really shake. I'm worried about metal fatigue where the fenders attach and bulb life on the rear lights. I think a piece of 1/2 inch diameter stainless steel rod with a 5/16 threaded hole in both ends bolted to exsisting holes in the fender should take the shake out and not be in the way of anything.

My L4310 has got "the rattle" also on the FEL control. Took it apart and when I put it back together I tightened the bolts a little more snug and greased the pivot points. Now the rattle is 80% reduced. I'll try the rubber washer trick someday.

My B2910 also has the FEL joystick rattle and it gets pretty bad at times. However, I also have a few other rattles and buzzes here and there, and I have just come to the conclusion that tractors (this is my first) are inherently noisy beasts. I will probably tackle some of these minor annoyances at some point (rubber washers and the like), but for now, I'm too busy enjoying all the stuff I can do now with my tractor, noises or not.

maybe you need a smaller tractor

Or bigger trees......

Or a chain saw.

I have worked out paths to get to every corner of my property. I had a few trees that decided to "reach out and touch someone" and that someone was me. They only did it once.

As for Joystick rattling.. how can you tell? It would have to be one heck of a racket to heard over a diesel.

That may a disadvantage of some of these newer Kubota's; mine's so quiet that I can hear those other little things that folks never used to hear. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Been wondering about that myself. My only real experience is with my L2500, but I can certainly hear most normal noises, including rattles, no matter what I'm doing at the time. I wear my walkie-talkie on my belt, and have no trouble hearing the wife or kids when they call me. In fact, last time out I was doing some serious ripping with my box blade, but even at 2,000 RPM, working hard, I 'bout jumped out of my seat when my daughter called "Daddy?" over the talkie. She was so loud and clear, I thought she was standing right next to the tractor! /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif

Tractors used to be noisier? /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif

Well, I am not sure what is louder, my kubota b7200hst my 5hp mtd push mower. The lawn mower definately requires hearing protection, as does the kubota.

You may be right. My only experience is with a 20-30 yr old model. New ones may be quieter.
