I know the manual says every 10 hours. I am grease junky (cheep insurance). I grease mine in shorter intervals. Same goes for the mower deck /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

( Working in soil or rocks takes out the cotter pin and then the pin starts to come out. It probably broke when about halfway out.
I used to have the same problem so I replaced both lower pins with bolts and nylon lock washers. No problems since then.
It's not about greaseing; just poor design.

Just a couple quick notes. My son found the pin in the driveway a couple days back. A little rusty but still good after 2 weeks sitting there. Just about 6 feet from where I noticed it was missing. Go figure.
Also had an issue with a cotter pin falling off one of the brake rods under the tractor since the pin incident. I checked the tractor over looking for the next pin that would fail. Could it be they are weakening or rusting some after 3 years of use?
