Here is a mod i did to the load level indicator of the FEL on my L3830. At first I cut both the tube and rod flush after leveling the bucket on a flat surface. Then I realized if I cut the tube in half length wise, it would allow me to see the rod coming out of the tube as I curled the bucket up. The rod is no longer hidden by the end of the tube. This helps you not to overshoot the level point when curling the bucket up. Makes for faster loader work since you don't have to correct the loader position again after passing the level point. When the tips of both rod and tube are flush, the bucket is level. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Casco, first off, the level indicator comes with the FEL. Its just that when new, the rod is so long it could poke your eye out while sitting in the operators seat. I have no idea why this is. Please note that I didn't cut down the length of the tube. I only split it down the middle with a hack saw. I did however cut off about 18 inches of rod. I've posted some more pictures to give you an idea how the whole thing operates.

Exactly what I needed for my L3430...

It's amazing how easy it is to solve a problem... once the solution is presented. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
And all the credit goes to you.

I can do it... I saw it on TBN...

My days with the loader will be a lot easier now !!!

Thank You... Pete.

Great idea, DelfinoTX. I am going to modify mine. I have been marking a black paint spot at the level point, but that wears off quick, plus the rod gets bent due to the length.

I think I will paint the rod black, makes it much easier to see against the orange.

Yeah, what a super idea!
I like the idea of painting the rod a contrasting color, also. Maybe blue or green..... nawww /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I did the mod, worked great. Painted the rod orange again and the inside of the older black. When the rod is flush with the top the bucket is level and when the bucket is all the way up the paint marker line is even with the top.

See attached photo.
