Any chance you could post a pic? Thanks for the input, sounds like a nice setup. That may just be the solution for me...

Yes my TN is 4wd. I would never buy a machine today that isn't, except for jobs like pulling wagons on good ground. You might want to consider the 2120. I've had mine since 1987 and it's a very strong machine. It's frame is larger than any of the Boomers (unless the new larger one has come out). there is a good supply of lightly used, well equiped "lease return" 2120's available. The major difference between the 2120 and the TN is 2000 vrs 4000 lbs loader capacity and the 2120's backhoe capacity is somewhat less.

The other thing you have to consider when comparing loaders is where the weight is measured. Some spec it at the center of the bucket and some at the pivot point. Maybe someone who knows more about this can elaborate. I know that John Deere and Kubota spec them at different points.

I just went throught these same comparisons this summer and ended up with a JD4310 w/430FEL. It seemed to me that the JD 30HP range tractors blew away the NH and K units in FEL, 3pt and BH performance. At least that's what I remember. Some were equal in some areas, but the JD was tops in all catagories. I've got 50hrs on her and am extreemly please with the resutls, I've strained both the FEL and 3pt performance envelope already, and grinned because she got the jobs done at levels I don't thinkg the other tractors would have done. I have good JD and K dealers in the area.

i'm not familiar with the tractors that you have mentioned, but i have a JD 870 ( 28.5 hp) with FEL and have no trouble doing all the things you mentioned, including lifting 1,000 lb round bales with the FEL. just make sure you have counter weight on the 3 pt. and go slow, keep the load low to the ground and don't turn fast or sharply. check the manfacturers specs also before you purchase to make sure it will handle what you want. also 3 pt backhoes are very hard on compact/utility tractors due to severe stress of digging motion. be careful and go slow or you could find the rear end of the tractor torn away. ususlly a dedicated backhoe is the best for digging and pulling as they are made to withstand the stress better. be safe!

Here's something to throw in the mix with regard to moving up in size. When I was looking at tractors I decided to move up to the L3710 from the L3410 because the frame of the tractor itself was larger in addition to the extra horsepower. However, I decided not to go with the 4310 because the 3710 and 4310 were the same size tractor...the only difference was about 5 or 6 HP. HP was not as important to me and so I couldn't really justify the $1500 difference between the two. However the price difference was justified between the 3410 and 3710 because I got HP AND frame weight (along with larger FEL lift, larger 3PH lift, etc.). Again I just wanted to throw that out there for you to ponder. I considered the same thing when looking at JD and NH tractors.

I took this stance comparing the <font color=green>4410</font color=green> to the <font color=blue>TC35d</font color=blue>.

The NH is a little heavier, yet its ergonomics might make it feel the same size.

It is priced roughly the same as the Deere, but comparing financing. it would cost less, due to a lower interest rate.

Am i getting ANYWHERE?

Conversely; the Deere isn't a whole lot more money and not a whole lot smaller.

Mike,

If its a toss up between the JD & the NH, go with the dealer you trust. You mentioned NH was the best option as far as dealers are concerned.

I actually prefered the JD when I was shopping, But the local dealer was a jerk & $3K more money to boot! I've been very happy with my little NH. Of course, she is feeling neglected right now as I haven't used her in 3 weeks!

Look and see where the loader frame runs along the tractor on a 2120.It's bolted on the front, middle and the rear. This was one of the deciding factor when we was looking.JD,IH and Kubota only bolted on the front and the middle at that time. This was for a 40hp tractor. We was looking back in '93.I don't keep up on the newer tractors, all these models.I can't tell if they are garden tractors or big farm ones.I have looked at some of the newer tractors and I see the Boomer series have the FEL bolted only on the front and middle. Some have the hyd connectors under the floor boards.Good place to rip them off in the woods.Just depends what you will be using it for.
