I usually let the blade down with the float and then pick it up a bit just short of it coming off the ground. It will then work fine if the surface is too uneven. If it is uneven you have to pick it up when it digs in and let it down when it comes off the ground. I got better with practice. If the ground is frozen or it's pavement the skids can help if you lower them below the blade edge and you keep the blade tilt so they are about flat or a little up in the front. I'm also interested in the rubber blade. Did you get that from JD?

I actually ordered the rubber from a firm that specializes in rubber and plastic plow blades. I checked on the pricing of the Jd rubber blade and it was way to high. I ordered the blade and drilled my holes and installed it with new, longer bolts fro my local JD. Rubber blade was less that $200. I am still thinking of trading my boom blade in on a frame mounted plow.

I will try what you are saying about the boom blade.

Thanks
