Went to use my tractor this morning the " joystick " was very stiff to move and the FEL would not raise up, hydraulic fluid appears to be ok in the sight glass. It was working fine when I parked the tractor the day before. The rear three point works fine as the snow blower would raise and lower and the tractor would move. The bucket is about 1/2" off the ground so I can still use the tractor for snow removal but it was awkward at times going forward as the tires would sometimes spin.

Any ideas of what to look for would be very much appreciated.

First, unplug the quick connects and reseat them. If that doesn't fix the probem...Does the bucket curl/dump normally? If so, swap the lift and curl hoses around, and isolate the problem to either the loader or tractor.

i had a 3720 cab and the fel would not work - found the cable under the joystick had come off, had to remove panel to gain access.

The joystick seems very stiff, when I pull back on the stick nothing happens usually you hear the noise that the system is working. I used the tractor yesterday for about an hour moving snow and everything worked fine, even when I parked it in the garage the loader lowered like normal, this morning it won't move in any position

I looked under the tractor after dinner and I was looking for something like a cable or linkage that might have come off but I couldn't see anything that appeared to be disconnected

Is there a lockout on the side of the joystick to prevent the loader from operating.? Just a thought.

That was my thought. My JD 512 loader has a black knob on the outside that when pushed in, locks out the loader controls. Not sure about the smaller loaders. First time I noticed it was the day I got it, and mounted from the wrong side. After a little WTF moment, I saw it. Darn glad I didn't call the dealer. #Embarrasment

That was what I was going to say to check as well.

There is a sliding bolt on the front of the panel below the joystick that allows you to lock out the joystick functions. It may have been moved by your heal when getting on, off or just while turning to watch the blower.

Is your garage heated? Could ice have formed around the linkages?

Moisture in cable housing froze limiting cable movement

Moisture could have got in to the caps on the valve spools and froze.

I'm going with a loose connection at one of the fittings.

My guess also is quick connect that isn't seated properly, take them loose and reseat them....always the first thing to try and often times the problem.

I don't think it is an SCV, and here's why. I have a 4115 which is identical to the 2520 ecept for the hood, a slight change in engine cc's and the rear tires. I can move my joystick readily in all directions whether or not there's anything plugged into the SCV's or not, or if only one side of a hydraulic cylinder plugged in or not. When running, the engine will dog down if the circuit is short sided with only one line plugged in, but the stick still moves.

The sliding lock could be dragging in the start of the hole it slides though, but then he shouldn't be able to move the joystick at all unless it is just barely caught. It sounds like there's probably some ice built up around the two joystick knuckles just below the seat pan.

I think you have frozen moisture in the detent cups on the opposite end of hyd valve from the levers.

Sounds to me like the lock out lever below your seat might have been bumped and is locking out your FEL. Easy to do.

I was thinking same thing. I've accidentally bumped mine many times and didn't know it until the joystick did not work.
