What's the proper technique for lifting the front end of the tractor (for ease of removing the mmm) with the FEL? I tried curling the bucket forward until the bottom was perpendicular to the ground then pushing forward on the control lever, but this didn't raise the front end. I assume the brakes should also be on, right?

Try curling the bucket. There was a thread talking about not having enough pressure on the lift cylinders on 7308 loaders. The curl should be able to do it. I would leave the brakes off till you got the front end to the height you want it, the set the brakes.

So, I should have the bucket flat on the ground then curl it forward, right?

Yup.

You could put a board under the lip of the bucket so you don't mess up the gravel, grass, pavement etc. But you don't have too.

Thanks, Derek! I'll give that a try.

I have a couple of 4X4 posts I cut short, about three feet long. Thses are placed under the bucket and i just leave the bucket flat (full up curl is what I mean) and I just lift the tractor that way. When removing the FEL that is different (it is needed to lift the tractor to pull the pins), I usually curl the bucket down also and do not use the boards. J

Looks like the others have nailed it for you Mike, my lift arms won't raise it but the curl will. Definitely leave the brakes off until it's raised, the tractor will roll forward as you are curling. Don't forget to be careful under there /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I lifted the front end of my rig for the second time last weekend. I just point the cutting edge of the bucket down and lift with the fel itself. I did, however, forget to release the brakes and zero, zip, nada happened. I'm thinking something is wrong with my fel before I realized what I had done. I guess there just isn't enough force there to drag those big heavy tires forward. I did all this to re-attach my mmm. Sure can't imagine doing it without the fel!/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
