On my tractors I made a modification to buckets and arms.
I "dumped" the bucket then came back about 1.5" or so with the bucket edge. I then welded stops to the arms that contacted the bucket mounting point. This effectively stops the bucket from "dumping" to the point that the cylinder reaches the maximum length. Until I did this, the bucket "dumped" until the cylinders reached maximum extension and they became the stop.
