I have a Fella Hay Mower that I just purchased from an individual. The cutter has never been used. However, when I got to the field and started to move it from transport to the working position I realized I had a problem. My hydraulics didn't lower the cutter gradually rather releasing it into a free fall slamming the cutter on the ground. I've never had this problem and I do not know if my problem is on the tractor (Ford 6610) or cutter. Am I overlooking a valve or something? Anyone have any suggestions?

Did you perhaps put the valve in the float mode, which would drop it.

Does it have a DA (dual acting, two hoses) or SA (single acting, one hose) cylinder on it?
