I recently had a new hi-tensile fence installed for horses. I thought some of you might enjoy seeing some pics of how they do it in PA.

That is a good looking team of horses. The hammer/pounder/doofer/thingy is pretty cool too. Wouldn't mind seeing more pics of both the hammer and the horses. Looks like an early version of a Geoprobe. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'd like to know how they got that to the site from home. I've got a picture in my mind of them walking along beside the horses .... from how far away?

The owner of the rig is the one operating the controls. The other guy in the picture is an employee, and there is one other employee who is not Amish. He owns a truck and custom trailer that hauls the two horses in an enclosure, and a beaver-tail trailer to haul the related equipment and supplies. The unit is a myriad of hydraualics. A cylinder lifts the ram, in turn compressing a really big coil spring. When the hydraulic pressure is released, the ram slams down against the post driving it in the ground. The posts are not pointed. They are simply a flat end. About five strokes of the ram, and the post is three feet deep in the ground without drilling a hole. The horses are Belgians. The one on the left is 21 years old, and the other is five years old. The younger one still has alot of "puppy" in him.
