Most ramps or steps over fences are called styles around here. I'm nont sure how that got to be it's name. My Mom and Dad have an old one over their fence that they use for a plant stand.

Leave the deer on the fence until there are no longer any exposed points. Then the deer would just bounce off. Or perhaps they would be scared away.

Hey if the strongest and healthiest deer are making it all the way over, this fence could be providing a valuable service. By thinning the herd where the long since gone wolves etc, would have done it in the past.

John, as you probably know, I pass this fence everyday on my way to work. I never knew this was going on!!!

The fence is a beautiful turn of the century (or maybe older) wrought iron fence. It is of historic significance and should not be removed. Of course it is a problem if deer are getting impaled on it. Egon has it right!! Another fence along it's boarders would stop the deer from getting the running start to jump over it.

The deer are probably flocking to the cemetary, because it is one of the last big tracts of land in the city of Troy. I'm sitting in an office building in Troy right now, but I don't see any deer around here right now!! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I hate the animals are suffering but I would not tear the historic fence down. There are way to many deer anyway and they are a public nusience and an environmental disater due to eating all the new growh trees. What, if a deer falls off Mt Rushmore are we going to concrete it over and put a deer ramp on it? Now the deer herds are being infected by a spongiform disease that may be communicable to humans or so I have read. I know, they could put up a multi lingual warning sign---Keep Off Fence. J

Up in the U.P. the corn fed buggers jump 6' high fences without even slowing down. They are so over populated, that they are a real problem. Driving down the road is like a video game trying to dodge the deer with your vehicle.

Von, I guess you're right!! What do you say, just as a service to the church, that you and I take the fence down. It's huge, so we can use my van and pick-up, and whatever vehicles you have. Then, as a public service, as you suggested, we'll bring it to Brimfield. Just to cover our expenses, of course.

We each should be able to buy some pretty big and nice, brand new shiney tractors for what we get for the fence. But of course, that's just to cover our expenses. We're really in it to help out the church. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
