Fence Mower?!!

Looks cool, but when you can't find any mention of price on their web site, and they mention it as a replacement for a caterpillar, makes me cringe in anticipation of what it might cost. For as little fence line as I have, it would have to be pretty cheap to be better than my propane burner and string trimmer.

I am sure I must have missed something. It said this on the specification page. "Dirt Removal Speed - 3 Cubic Feet/Minute"
What are talking about.

JerryG,
Near as I can figure, the "dirt removal" refers to this machine scalping the ridge that builds up in the fence row over time.
Maybe I'm missing something too!

Nevertheless, it looks like a good "starting idea" to build your own.
Fetch the cheapest bush hog you can at an auction, a little shop time with the welder and Viola - instant fence mower.

I agree, but wish they had a few more pictures from different angles.

For what seems like all of eternity, I've been mowing under fences with a sickle bar mower, a weed eater, and spraying round-up at the base of the posts. With a mile and a half of fence to do, that takes a little time. Figure 4 or 5 times a year, and I need a better way.

I'm awaiting the reply on this fence mower from the manufacturer. (I'm even enquiring about a dealership)

Could be a hot item here in horse country!

Farmwithjunk,
I don't know if I'd make retirement plans yet. That rascal looks pretty expensive.

Wow, a mile and a half of fence to maintain. You are a glutton for punishment. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

This is an interesting mower. Rolling on a rail like frame when it hits an obstacle? It could also be called "tree or garden mower" if it is called "fence mower." Maybe, this too will be one of many interesting implements disappearing in the market after a while. If I were the person marketing this item, it would be a machine that would stay in the market for a long time. Its manufacturer should develop a better marketing strategy.
