Jim,

Does Midwest have any plans to make a spreader?

Just curious,
Michael

That's one of the great things about free information almost everyone gives it. Just go with your instincts on the spreader and I'm sure you won't go wrong. Good luck to you. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

( Well now that I am thoughrly confused on spreaders! I think I will go with my gut feeling and buy either the cosmo180 or the frist-choice p180. There the same machine so it will come down who has a sharper pencil. )

Cosmo180? you mean you will buy a spreader direct from Italy? As far as I know Cosmo doesn't have any retail shop in USA. So, Pieter doesn't have to have a sharp pencil.

Cosmo brand spreaders are sold here in the USA by Agri-Supply. Their catalog offers 4 different models.

The Cosmo spreader is probably the most private labelled spreader in th US. Agri Supply, Direct Distributors, WAC, TSC, Rural King, Harp, King Kutter, Wallace, First Choice, and many more use this spreader. In addition, many dealers, like Goforth in NC, bring them in direct as well. Cosmo offered their spreaders to us as well, but with so many already distributing them we don't see much opportunity. We would rather find a few improvements to add and be able to offer additional value than play the "me too" game.

Agri Supply and Direct Distributors aren't owned by same person (mr Waverly)? So, why using different labels? Somethings must be wrong here. Anyway.. So, "tjmcd", there are so many companies who can have sharper pencil. I have seen Cosmo spreader, a good looking product with a seamless hopper. But, as I always questioning things;-), here again; does the weld seam in the spreader hopper really matters? (other than its fast seriel production of seamless hopper.)

"you too" have same opinion with me.;-0 - But, dealers will not like our this way of thinking as all of them dealers are a big group in "me too" category. Joke continues... are "you too" planning to manufacture some components of your products outside the US? If you do that, the production of your developments & implements with improvements will require some engineering knowledge and NOT all of manufacturers in the world have even a single engineer in their workshop-like-factories.

Wow,I cant believe the response to one simple question! I was totally confused, but I finnally decided on a Cosmo 180. It was delivered yesterday and other then the wet paint, it looks like a good unit. It is a little large for my BX, but I think it will work fine. Thanks to everybody for your help. I found a lot of good places for future purchases, Agri- Supply and CCI were great help. Now if I can get my PTO shaft shortened without messing up I will be in business.

Well, we'd answer it simply "go for cci spreader" if we were a seller of cci model or "go for cosmo180" if we were a seller of cosmo model. then, you'd not be confused?;-)
Ps: we have a saying here "extra capital/words will not make you blind as long as the truth is said in these much words."

Agri-Supply is the retail outlet of Direct Distributors which sells wholesale.

As to the second question, we are actually bringing the manufacture of many of our components back to the US where we have more control over the quality. Plus we would like to buy American whenever possible. We think many of our customers feel the same way.

Did you get the instructons for shortening your PTO shaft? I can probably dig up a copy if you need it.
