"" why bother carrying a fire extinguisher strapped to the ROPS of your PT? ""

Why, indeed??!! I carry the same number of fire extinguishers on my PT that I do on my car, SUV, four ATVs, compact tractor, lawn tractor, chipper, chainsaw, and weed eater --- NONE!!

After reading so may 'what if' posts here on TBN, however, I am considering a lightening rod for the roof of my PT!!

Negatism

I made this word up just for you. I seems to fit.

You seem to want to slam anyone that don't see things your way.

Hell, it won't hurt you to be wrong every now and then.

Have you every thought about changing the title of your next post. Does it have to be Pros and cons.

I tried that steering with the engine cut off in my garrage on concrete and it will push the cylinders out and in , but I n ever tried it enough to see if it would be enough to be able to really guide it. I have been on a scoop and a shuttle car when the breaker kicked. The scoop is a battery opperated machine and the shuttle car is electric but both have hydrolic steering and when the breaker kicked the steering was completly out, but now they have brakes that automatically lock up when the power is interrupted. I know that both are electric but one has a cable and one has a battery, I added that last in for those who like to dissect my posts so they can criticise, I liked the forum better when ideas could flow freely.

IMHO, the continual "corrections" being made are being taken as attacks against ideas or even personalities which will ultimately lead to fewer and fewer posts/ideas being shared. I think that most people do not mind being "corrected" but perhaps a little diplomacy would handle the situations in a more productive manner rather than having 25%+ of a thread devoted to defensive verbiage? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif Just an observation....

Good observation. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Let's get back to sharing ideas, please. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Maybe it's time to just kill this thread. I, for one, really don't appreciate all the bickering, especially from someone who doesn't even own a PT and has no real experience on one. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

I see. So you have to own a PT in order to take part in this forum? Who the heck is bickering anyway?? We were discussing what some of us think is a potential problem in the design while others are just happy to accept the machine for what it is and to modify it to no end in order to correct its shortcomings.

Guess I'll just hang up my hat and stay quiet while I read about more Robin engines falling apart, more boiling fuel incidents, more broken pivot pins, and so on. Just live in denial thinking your $10000 PT 425 is a piece of engineering excellence by a company that listens. Then again...as we can see with the installation of the Robin engine across the line PT really doesn't listen to its customers...after all there are soooo many posts here about how awful the Robin is vs the Kohler! Even the Robin rep has disappeared in the meantime. A weird coincidence since he was ever present before the Robin made it into the flagship 425.

If you don't enjoy the discussion please go away. Locking threads will only discourage a discourse.

One final note: I certainly don't think Fourteen is being negative. In fact, its the opposite, he is being optimistic and trying to find ways to improve his equipment as he figured out better ways of doing things. His humor, suggestions, and inventiveness have been appreciated even if I don't own a PT! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Rick Taylor,

How is your stump grinder working since you replaced your hydraulic motor. I believe ours is the design where you cannot turn the blade around due to blade hub design (closed end with 5/16" capscrew in the end). Would be nice to have the debris fly away from the PT.

Well, this thread has gotten a bit out of hand. Perhaps we need to take a break from it for a while. Perhaps I should have nipped it sooner. It will be too hard to prune out what I perceive as out of line compared to what the rest of the world sees as out of line. So, with that, I'll lock the thread. We can continue the discussion by starting a new thread when some of us have some results from testing (expectedly or unexpectedly) our PTs on slopes. Have a good weekend, folks.
