Fighting over the house thermostat..do you?

I've never really had to argue over this myself much because my wife makes more than I do and helps pay for stuff like this.
When my parents visit they chip in for things so I don't make a issue about it.

However..........

Rewiring the T-Stat is darn right sweet.. Does your wife know about this? And will you get in trouble if she doesn't?

( It was too difficult to explain that if you want the house a couple of degrees cooler or warmer, that setting it all the way left or right didn't get it there quicker )

It's absolutely amazing to me that apparently the majority of the population cannot understand that simple concept. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif The thermostat in our house won't be touched from now until well after Labor Day and probably not until at least the end of September. However, my mother is in a nursing home and I have repeatedly, and unsuccessfully of course, tried to get the management to try to train their personnel about the use of a/c thermostats (or maybe they've tried to do so and were unsuccessful in their attempts). I set the thermostat in Mother's room each morning, but every day I find that someone has either turned the a/c off entirely or turned the thermostat as cold as it will go.

Of course years ago I had 15 to 20 female employees in the same room and there's no way possible to satisfy all of them. We had to put a locked cover box over the thermostat. Then some of the women had little electric fans under their desks and others had little electric heaters under theirs.

Since I live in constant state of trouble, how would I ever notice one more thing..... /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Actually, my wife taught me to be sneaky... She'd probably applaud my effort.... Right before the Lorena Bobbit re-enactment.

You guys need to put those little women in their places heheheh.

I have an electronic programmable thermostat.. it helps in the argument. I just havn't told her how to work it.

Summer
Day 74
Night 69

Winter
Day 69
Night 63

I have no problems at all unless my wife reads this.. them I'm gonna be healing up for a few days. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

See, that's all well and good, but the wife has this thing I want every so often, and she won't let me use it if I don't tell her what she wants to know.

Only recourse is to be sneaky....

We don't have central A/C, so in the summer the thermostat is pretty much all over the place. In the winter, due to the fact that we heat with wonderful ewxpensive fuel oil, the thermostat is a nice comfortable 64-65 deg. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif The wife gets used to wearing her warm clothes all winter, and I am very comfortable in that range.

We keep ours at 78 in the summer with pedastal fan running so I can sleep /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif And 69 in the winter with fan running /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

you won the round, but if you are found out, you are one very much in the doghouse person.

I threatened once to get one that had a password on it. Wife said fine, and on those long cold winter nites, you will be nice and comfy on the COUCH.
