Well I changed the filters, along with the motor oil on the U-5030.
The hydro filter as well the oil filter came off hard. For a while I
thought I was going to have to drive a screw driver threw them
but they both came loose.
When the old hydro filter comes off hydro fluid runs out at a fairly
good stream and keeps comeing out, so have your new filter ready.
The oil pan has two drains one on each side of the engine.
The reason for this is that the oil pan has a valley to allow
the drive shaft to pass. So be sure to drain both sides to
get all the old oil out.
Manual calls for 2.37 gal. I started the engine after two gallons
to fill the filter than kept adding till the stick showed full.
At 2.5 gallons the oil is on the top mark on the stick.
Oil filter, fuel filter, and hydro filter from the dealer were a little
over 50.00 with the hydro being the most at 32.00.

Well this will be my first change and I will mark the numbers from these replacement filters and see what I can find as replacements. I will likely be back here looking for some help with cross reference numbers if my Napa parts house cant find them. Hey, I did get 2 motor oil filters so it wasnt really $200 for a complete filter change. Also I rather doubt that I will be changing the air filter either but I ordered one to have on hand just in case I needed it later on.

I too think it is a good idea to have an extra filter on hand. If there is a shot of water in the fuel I would want to
change the filter even after draining the bowl.
When cleaning the air filter it could be easy to damage it.
A person may be without a tractor when you may need it most.
Those filters will not spoil.

The site that Rocknrod posted should help Gary. He found the
Wix number for my hydro filter. I know there is Wix filters to fit all these
tractors. If not Wix, some other good filter that we can get
at the parts store, without driving 40 miles as in my case.
The Korean made oil filter I got from the dealer and put in my
tractor had a manurfacture date of Jan 2008 stamped on it in ink.
This date was under the plastic that protects the gasket.
Someone else has to be making these filters.

Sounds great that you both got your oils changed. I can wait to do mine
Hey listen, why dont you Gary and Fenix share the filter part number information for future generations and forum knowledge.
You might place it here:
http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/ls-tractors/192544-sticky-needed.html
Or just share it and I will put it in the data base (need to update it) and post it on Box.net:

What do you think?

That is a good idea. It will sure help someone down the road.
When I have all the cross numbers for the U-5030 filters I will post them.

It is going to be at least another month before I get home to even look at the spares for numbers. Hopefully I will remember to record the numbers and get back to this thread to check that Wix site for comparison. I will hopefully find something and let you guys know, but it is going to be June before I get around to that. Man working out of country for 2 months at a time sure does seem to pile up all the work when you finally do get home. Wife is now looking to install a prefabricated storm shelter in the garage and trying to find bidders to install a sprinkler system for which I will have to deal with as soon as I get home. I might need a defribrilator to shock me back to life after writing the checks for those, so it may be a few days before I get around to looking at the tractor.

Wife is now looking to install a prefabricated storm shelter in the garage ....

Can't say I blame her with the kind of storms they've been having up there in Arkansas this spring. Dry as a bone down here in this part of Texas though, so I guess we both need a change of weather.:(

Yes I'm going to Arkansas the end of the month for like a year (Texarkana) to work. I can get home one weekend a month (5 hour drive). Better than working in Canada I guess. Although I liked it there.

Funny you should mention working in Canada. I got a call from a friend up there in Edmonton Alberta yesterday and it was COLD and snowing like crazy. Of course I had to rub him a little and say it was cool here too, about 75F from the cold rain storm we had the night before. Of course it is back to 95F today. Wife mentioned that we were having another storm and the power had been out for 3-4 hours when I called her Wed morning for me, Thursday night for her. We have been having a lot of thunder storms this spring and lots of high winds. I guess that is all good for my 11,000 sq feet of sod that the wife wont have to water so much if the rain keeps up. I also have a sprinkler system installation in the works to install so it will likely be wettest year ever if my luck holds or lack of luck.
