ROBERTM: WHERE IS IT? LET'S SEE PICTURES!
Put me down for the work party, where is it?
Well, I'll try to get some photographs, but frankly (can I call you Frank?) I was busy this weekend. I didn't get the rig until late Saturday, and Sunday I was busy with several non-BX related things. Believe me, that was hard.
Finally, Sunday afternoon, I tore apart the BX to wire in a switch for my sprayer. That is something I had been doing on my
B7510 since I got it, but never did. AMEN! DONE! I installed a 6-pin waterproof trailer connection on the ROPS off the right rear hazard light bracket I only used two pins (ground and power) and heavy duty 16ga electrical cord for durability. This is the way. Waterproof and a finished look.
Okay. First impressions
Why I never got the BX in the first place (or during each of the last several years when I got the itch) I'll never know. I'm sure the new BX's are more refined than the early ones, but this thing is fantastic. I had buyer's remorse all the way home from the dealer, but after I mowed, there will be NO turning back.
Well, at first I wasn't really impressed with the turning radius of my new BX, but because the tires weren't even coming close to tearing up my lawn, I was happy. With my
B7510, you could watch them rip up circles on turns, so the BX's minimized turning radius didn't bother me. After all, my FIRST goal to prevent tearing up the lawn was achieved. Then, I went into my ditch and needed 4wd. It was then I realized I had been mowing in 4wd all along. The 4wd lever on the BX is opposite my old
B7510, and I used it a few times on the BX by habit without looking and was reaching down and switching in and out of 4wd. Actually I was using 2wd when I thought I was in 4wd, so I guess I didn't really need 4wd after all.
I decided to then see what 2wd would do around the tight turns and mulch beds. WOW! Turning to the left, this BX turns so tight, I though I had all-wheel steer. Again, not one bit of tearing up the sod. So, those of you who think your BX's tear up the lawn need to try a B. The B is absolutely no comparison to a BX.
The suspended deck is awesome. I have never seen such a magnificent, level, even, cut from a 1400# tractor before. No more bouncing and pie plates.
A few observations:
The 25.5hp engine screams. I can稚 believe how loud it is over my old
B7510. Granted, it's new and not broken in. I think a lot has to do with the radiator fan sitting immediately in front of the driver.
The weldments inside the hood put dimples and dents all over the hood where spot welding occurred. Cosmetic, yes, but it looks a little sloppy in the sun where the paint reflects and accentuates each imperfection in the hood.
The 3pt lifts much higher than my
B7510 for what it's worth. I see the stabilizer mod coming soon.
Incredibly more leg room over the
B7510. At 6'-5" I use every inch. The reclining seat is very nice with the beer holder. I meant root beer holder.
The view without the loader subframe is fantastic. One of the reasons I looked at the BX was so my wife and son could have an easier time operating the tractor. You can see exactly where you are going, mowing, etc... with the BX. Total unobscured vision.
Headlights? More like spotlights. They are great! I had to mow again last night just because.
Okay, I need to get back to work. I値l post some pictures when I can. Thanks for helping me make my decision. I really went back and forth last week even up to the time I loaded it on the trailer. After only a few hours in the seat, I really think I made the right choice. Thanks again!
