Finally building my storage shed.

Not a bad idea to try to make them last. I buy nice disposable vehicles now. You can find clean, dependable used rigs for $3K that will last for years even with road salt and potholes. If you wreck it or it craps out...you are not out a lot of money.

That is a great habit to get into... just haven't been doing that since my younger days. Spoiled now but when fixed income (retirement) kicks in, I see it as a reality again. $60K 1/2ton P/U's... WTF?

The secret for easy retirement is to be debt free before it starts. I could still budget for new vehicles but choose not to take the depreciation in the shorts. It is easy to spend big money on "maybe hobbies" also. Try to determine your interests before a fixed income limits expenditures.

I'm sort of guilty here too. But I am pretty sure I know I will be doing more wood/metal working so I am stocking up on a few bigger tools as present projects demand!

I've got a LONG TIME before retirement but I was just discussing with my wife yesterday how I would love to have a new truck but would rather drive the one I paid cash for 5 years ago so I can afford to have a few toys like my green pickup, tractor, sawmill, etc etc.
