Finally built a laser grading rig using my box blade.

/ Finally built a laser grading rig using my box blade. #81
Started on this build last September and had to work on it in my spare time. Still have a few things left to do but was able to try it out today. I basically added caster wheels to the box blade. Usin g Topcon equipment and a Danfoss PVG 32 proportional valve. All joints were made with close tolerance bushing stock and have grease fittings.

I tried it out for about 6 hours today and it seemed to work pretty well.

Here are some pictures.
want to make the same laser box scraper
built back hoe bought the wrong valves open center and it became a jack hammer
expensive mistake
belive there are several versions of the pvg 32 valve want to get the right one
and the correct parts for the topcon controls

Sorry I have been gone for quite a while. I had troubles picking cables but finally just ordered them from a Topcon dealer. Ozark lasers iirc.

Man that is sweet. I wish Id had one about ten years ago. Very nice build! Thank you for sharing.

My old fashioned way of doing this for a building site, is to grade it as close to correct as I can tell by eye, quit for the day, put the garden sprinkler on it for several hours, turn off the water before bed. Next morning get up early and spray paint lines around the puddles. Bring in more fill, fill puddle areas first, level them out and pack. Then start the next lift, bringing or moving fill as needed, repeat with sprinkler at end of day, etc. Water don't lie.

Jim you are correct in method for filling inwhere the puddles are. But for large fields just recognize that with flood irrigation it is easy to see where the undisturbed "high ground " is. So without any other tools you can pull with a box blade the dry dirt to the damp spots. Simple cut and fill.

Afterwards a good lpgs with the blades set flush with the skids will help average out most of the puddles. I am building a new one now that will be 14' wide with 8.5'skids. The bigger the better job averaging out the discrepancies.

This field is close, meaning everything is getting watered from top to bottom. If you can allow it to soak in the ground then watering once every two weeks works satisfactorily. Every four days would be closer to optimum though..

Now I do not want any confusion, I laser leveled this field and had to move about 1600 cubic yards to get it to this

i have built a dual laser box scraper but the hydraulic controls don't seem to work
you inspired me to build my own i am retired machinist and like projects like this
receiver masts are 12 feet tall and hinge down to work on but too tall for in the building
i have a motor grader 9164 control box
what kind of control box did you use I think maybe i need a dual ag control box
can you send pictures of the box
help
