Finally found a good gas can

Bepp.... I got a blue plastic barrel off Craig's list for $20 American... Plumbed the bung with a 3/4" nipple and used pvc for a tail pipe... the 3/4-inch nipple threads into the 12-volt pump... The pump was given to me by a friend (I've got some nice friends.
I transport the barrel to a dealer that sells off-road diesel and use the front loader on my tractor to lift it off the truck for storage.... Best thing I ever did for myself.

I may have gotten the deal of the week x2. I needed a couple yellow cans for the Kubota, happened across a listing for the old style ones at Grainger, on close out no less. 2x5gal non-enviro cans shipped to my door for $18 total. Was at an auction this week, and ended up with 2x52gal fuel transfer tanks for $90 total. I only have one pump, so may just plug the pump hole on one and swap the pump back and forth as needed, but I figure I'm set.

Last time I ran a load up to the Great White North, I stopped in a Canadian Tire store and they still had the old style spouts available (non no-spill) ..... not sure if they had the complete cans and spouts or not ....... but if they do, I'll be stocking up on my next trip up.

If I had been paying attention and known this was coming before it got here I would have acquired a lifetime supply ....

The retards that dream this crap up ought to be tarred and feathered .....

I've bought up all of the spouts that the ma and pa hardware stores around me have. Will be looking for more as I travel around

1*Do you take the barrel to the station to fill it?
2*I guess you could keep the barrel on a pallet & fork lift it on & off the bed of a truck?
**************************
1*I just took this drum to a station and got 33 gallon of red off road fuel for 2.50 per gallon.
(Didn't make sense for me to pull up to one of their other pumps and pay 50 cents more a gallon for the same stuff. )
Hauled it home
and unload it with this.

3*Yeah they do. You just take the spout off and pour out of the opening. :D
*****************
3*So why mandate a can that can be so easly defeated by simply not using the spout ?

4*... I got a blue plastic barrel off Craig's list for $20 American... Plumbed the bung with a 3/4" nipple and used pvc for a tail pipe... the 3/4-inch nipple threads into the 12-volt pump... The pump was given to me by a friend (I've got some nice friends.

6*Best thing I ever did for myself.
****************
4*I got lucky and found some drums for 3 bucks each.
I sold the extra ones i didn't need for $13 each.
I made money on that deal .
5*You ought to plumb your pump so you can use it to unload.
I love that feature of my rig/no fussen with pallets, forks
or digging out and starting the tractor.
6*You got that right.

7*Was at an auction this week, and ended up with 2x52gal fuel transfer tanks for $90 total.
8*I only have one pump, so may just plug the pump hole on one and swap the pump back and forth as needed,
9*but I figure I'm set.
************
7*Not bad .
8*Just put a tee and 2 ball valves in the line and you can pump from either tank .
No need to keep switching the pump back and forth and You can also unload the fuel off your truck with it.
9*Then you will be all set.

I bought one of the cans that has the detent that is supposed to go against the lip of your filler neck (hole) of your tank. The detent broke off the third time I filled my tractor. Now you have to pull it back with your hand and try to hold the can up with one hand. These new cans suck.

give one of these a shot you won't be disappointed.

Thanks for the info. I'm getting tired of gas spilling all over my mowers using a funnel. Going to try one of these and see what happens.

When you give one a try, stick the nozzle right in the tank. You don't want to watch it for when it's full, that's when the leaks start if you stick the nozzle in the tank it can't over fill, it shuts off the air vent and it doesn't flow anymore.

Or switch tractors to a Kubota Grand L series. Turn the ignition to accessory, & they start beeping when the fuel gets close to the top as you're filling up, beeps faster & faster as the fuel gets higher & higher. Quite nice.
