I've had my Woodmaxx now for a couple weeks. Here it is after assembly:

I assembled it by myself in about 2 comfortable hours. There really are no tricky parts to the assembly, especially if you watch the video once before starting

Here it is in action:

The chipper easily fed everything under 6 inches easily. Between 6 and 8 inches, the branches/trunks have to be pretty straight and have limited side branches (nothing big). It's more a matter of feeding, rather than overwhelming the chipper.

These were the branches too big to chip:

The finished product:

We are extrremely pleased with it. The only jams have been side branches poking out the slot where the feed roller rides. Both times easily fixed by lifting the roller and pushing it back out into the chute.

Congratulations. We bought the manual model a couple years ago and it has definitely been a time saver for us. Chipping the limbs when clearing fence rows is much faster now as we don't have to load them on a trailer to haul off and then have to unload them. Handled everything twice. With chipper, only handle once. We put a lawnmower trailer under the discharge chute to catch the chips which we use to mulch around the pecan trees, fruit trees and azaleas. Mulch really cuts down on the need to weed-eat around them. Just run the edge of mower deck right up against the mulch and voila!! no weed-eater needed!! Would like the find a jig for sharpening the blades, really don't want to try and freehand them with a side grinder.

I notice your chipper has "skis" on it! Mine just has the four legs. Did you fabricate those yourself? Those would be a nice addition.

Mine came with the sleds. Woodmaxx added that last year or this year, after customer comments. Yes, they're much more stable than the legs I have on my post driver.

I cheaped out and bought a used Jimna 8" on Craigslist for $1000.00. Had very little use. Eats an 8" hardwood limb or log no issue behind my 90 horse M series Kubota. I did add a Weasler slip clutch between the input on the chipper and the PTO shaft, I was afraid my big tractor would destroy the chipper. Hasn't yet, The 8" diamter stuff don't even slow down the tractor. I let it feed the big stuff as fast as it will feed itself in and I get a solid stream of chips coming out the chute. Pine, Oak, maple or grapevines, no issue. Even eats old dimensional lumber (no nails or screws of course).

No issues at all and WoodMax sells replacement blades and belts for the Jimna 8" (It's actuallty the same as the WoodMax economy chipper)....

Mine (Jimna) is very smooth running and not much runout on the flywheel. The actual runout between cutter blades (at 180 degrees apart) is about 8 thousands.

They are noisy when chipping however.

I looked at Wallenstein but I have no desire to lift a heavy branch or log vertically into a chute when I can load a chute horizontally and let the power infeed roller pull the limb in.....

That vertical stuff might work for a Lowes box store cheapo chipper but not for heavy stuff.

Was gonna order a Maxx and found the Jimna on Craigslist. I bet I could sell it for at least what I paid for it. Used ones are hard to find.

The chippers are obviously meant for a sub compact or compact tractor. I had to add an additional 8" of extension legs to the bottom to get the chipper's PTO shaft horizontal with the tractor's output shaft.

Big power don't seem to adversely affect it though.....:D

MrWhippy,LouieJunior beat me to the sled question, But I have another. Is there a box cover left of the feed chute on the back? I saw a post on ott today with pictures of a new Woodmaxx and wondered about the sled legs and cover. lt190b

There is no box covering where the hydraulic roller pivots up
