Finally gave in and bought a PTO chipper

We'll, I've owned my Woodmax chipper for about two years now and it eats everything I've asked it to
Digest Powering it with a 45 hp New Holland tractor.
Yes, some concerns about "off shore" iron but must say, straight forward engineering, very easy to service
And gets the job done.

100_8277.jpg?????I don't know if this an add on or factory. I didn't post a question on ott, the first and last time I did I got scolded for not being a dues paying member! lt190b

I'd like to see pictures of that Jimna.

Post 17 is it. All the same, Chinese chipper. A Woodmaxx in different paint. Nice thing is all the parts interchange with Woofmaxx. I bought an extra set of knives from them and belts. I'm inputting almost 90 pto horses with no issue. No problem with bogging down on the big stuff, it just eats it up. 1" or 8", all the same, at the same input rate too. I was a bit concerned about hooking it to an ag tractor but so far, so good.

I don't even run it at 540 on the PTO, I run about half that speed. Even shoving 8" hardwood logs in, I can't get the M9 up on the turbo...lol

One thing I did do was I took off the upper knife access plate and drilled a number of 3/8" holes in it and put it back on. That allows extra air into the flywheel chamber and moves the chips better as less rpm and I don't run it sitting on the ground. I also pulled the feed roller and took my angle grinder to it and sharpened the teeth so they grab the wood better. I leave it up on the 3 point slightly so no skids or feet needed. I extended the legs so I can hook it up easily.

I have a lot of trees around the farm so I was always burning, not any more.

It is very noisy when chipping. I wear ear plugs.

Here's a picture of the left side:

Yours is a hydraulic drive. His is mechanical drive like my Jimna. I guess I could add a hydraulic motor to mine and run it from the tractor, I have 3 sets of outlets on the tractor, but I don't see any point. My gearbox drive works fine.

The hydraulics run off the PTO, no lines to the tractor at all. The reservoir is in the stand. You can see it in the left side picture. About 7 gallons.

I understand the WM is self contained. What I meant was I could use the tractor hydraulics (21.5 gpm@2100 psi to power an orbital hydraulic motor if I needed one. I don't. The mechanical infeed is just fine.

Don't want to get fancy for a thousand bucks anyway.

The major difference between the Woodmaxx chippers and the Jinma and Value Leader chippers, besides paint is the Woodmaxx chute rotates whereas the Jinma and Value Leader don't. No biggie really and fabricating a rotatable chute is no biggie if needed, something I haven't found necessary.

I believe Woodmaxx comes with extra air inlet holes in the front bulkhead similar to what I did with the access plate.

I bet they all come from the same factory in China. You can always tell a Chinese build job by the crappy welds. Strong but ugly

I have to ask, what is OTT?
5030, its orange tractor talk. By the way, now I see that the chipper in the picture I posted from ott is a mechanical drive, that explains the box cover and no oil tank under the chipper. Boy do I feel like a DA. lt190b

I went over there and looked around. Interesting forum. I see a regular membership is free but they have different levels of 'pay per view' memberships on forum which, in reality limits the number of idiot posts and also limits forum members. First time I've ever saw that setup actually.

Most of the posts are about smaller tractors of which I have none.
