Here in southern Kansas we haven't gotten much snow this winter. I have owned (with my late father) a little Ford 1210 4x4 since 1986 and it has always lived at my parents place in the country.

This year, I decided to bring it to my house in the city to clear snow and do some maintenance on it. Of all years to not get much snow is when I have a great snow mover in the garage. The only good thing about the lack of snow has been my time cleaning, repainting and changing fluids in the little guy. It looks like new and I even bought new R-1's for it.

Well, we are getting the storm of the decade right now and I am supposed to wake up to 12-18 inches of snow. I am like a little kid right now, watching basketball, and I can't wait to wake up and start clearing my 2 driveways plus circle drive and probably several neighbors too. I won't charge anything, the seat time is well worth it!

Thanks for listening.

Snow? This time of the year? I've had the garden going since January.

Yesterday we got the first appreciable rain fall (1 1/4") in about a year and half. I know I haven't cut grass around here since then. Sure didn't take long to green up. Things popped up overnight. I guess I'll be having to get the mowers going soon.

Hey sld, We are supposed to get around 6". I'd send it to you if I could. I'd be happy to let my tractor sit. Our roads just got decent again after 3" of rain last weekend and now the salt and gravel hits again.

I hate you. Just kidding. One of my two gardens is visible now from the snow melt (all mud) ; and the other is still under snow (shaded area). I'm hoping to drop seeds by the last weekend in May/first in June.

Sid,

We got the other end of that rather freakish snowfall up here in Kansas City. Started out as rain/sleet most of the day on Saturday, then started snowing hard with big, 2 inch flakes, in the evening.

Woke up to about 5 inches on the ground Sunday morning. Didn't need to get out the plow though, because we had 50 degrees here today that melted it all off. Should be good for the trees and grass...

Hey gordyy,

Looks like this one will miss us up here. The yard is too wet for the big tractor but I did move a bit of snow today the the New Holland.

That was a crazy snow. Had around 3-4 inches at my place and by Sunday afternoon it was all gone. Oh well, I am ready for spring weather. I have to get my taters planted.

We got four inches last night which pushed us over the all-time record for snow in our area which has stood since the winter of 1949-1950 (Just over 94.6 inches). We're looking at Mother's Day to get our vegetables in the ground. Regards, Mike

OK,

You guys down south quit breathing, all that hot air has moved this next storm just north enough to get us now. Gordyy you must be doing a snow dance down there.

Ended up with 24-28 inches of snow and 50 mph winds. After work tried to get home before sundown with about 5 inches of snow Friday. Last mile before the house had a wheat field to the north of the road. Neighbor had 2 trucks stuck in middle of the road so I had no were to go. My Son brought the tractor across the field to the trucks. My other son tried to get across the field in his 4x4 but got stuck. All most had one truck dug out when the sun went down. The snow and wind picked up and snow was blowing back in faster than I could dig it out. We left the trucks and all headed home. Had to abandon the tractor because it was taking to long to find a way around the drifts and the visibility was almost down to nothing. Thank God we made it home safe. It was late Saturday afternoon before it stopped snowing and the wind went down. Got to the tractor, it fired right up then dug my way back to the house with it. Pickup was sitting down in a bowl of snow in the middle of a 120 foot long snow drift that was 5 feet deep. Sunday, a couple neighbors brought a 4WD 8130 JD and larger 9xxx JD 4WD with a front blade. after they made a trail across the wheat to my house and pulled out my sons truck, we dug a ramp in the snow drift in front of my pickup and he pulled it right up and out with some long pull ropes. That mile of road is still drifted shut but we can get out through the field now.

We had about 10" Thursday. Only the 3rd time I had to plow this winter, of course March, April and May are our big snow months. Supposed to have more tomorrow and then Saturday. My FEL mounted plow continues to work great. Still can't float it but am getting better at adjusting it on the fly.

I just came in from making a few passes with the mower.
First time I've mowed any this season.

Hey Brown,

I hope you get crab grass:D.

The way it's been here I will have to rework some of my yard. We are so mucky under the snow and I'm trying to get the driveway clear enough that it will dry out.

I'll get to mow sometime in May maybe. Farmers are worried about getting into the fields this spring.

the daily update we have 15 fresh wet sticky inches
still snowing as I type but really light right now
on the bright side its 29 and we never got any wind to speak of
30 maybe 35 at the very highest gust so the drifts arent bad other than when you hit one you do know you hit one.
they make the suburban bounce this morning
