Went to Tractor Supply today and looked at the boom poles they had. Which turns out to be only one. Advertised on-line as a HD Countyline for $299. But saw a sticker on the side that said Tarter. Not going to argue with him since the HD Tarter on-line goes for around $365 plus shipping. I used it when I got home with no trouble at all. I do need a better setup as far as chains or straps go. But it's going to be about 95 degrees with a heat index of over 100 tomorrow so I don't see me outside all that much.

Looks like a good one...I use mine all the time...can see what I'm doing much better than trying to use the loader without a spotter...

A hydraulic top link makes a boom pole like a mini crane...but the best thing I did to mine was add a receiver ball so I can haul my trailer without removing the BP...
...I can drop the trailer and use the boom to load it then just pick it back up and I'm off...

A "safety Police" observation.

Your pulling forces, should you do more than just lifting, are going to be high up on the tractor which is the receipt for a flip over backwards.

You have a roll bar so use it and the seat belt. Consider adding wheelie bars like drag cars use.

You will, find endless uses for it.

Tarter & King Kutter make some or most of the TSC impliments. They rebrand them as CountyLine, but lots of manuals & stuff have the OEM designations & stuff in them. Not sure if it's a regional thing or time thing when their various contracts have come & gone.

Not saying it's a bad thing at all, just a thing.

Hey, that's cool. Hadn't seen one of those before. Thanks for posting.

Wish I had one designed like the OP. Mine won't fit the QH that was bought later. Thus, I try to use the FEL after all.

Why is it better to use a boom pole vs the loader with chain hooks?

Also if I'm using the loader with chains for picking or dragging something uphill backwards that weighs a lot, the back tires might come off the ground and that is not good.

I have the TSC HD Tarter as well, very handy for those extended reach tasks.

I found that I generally do not need a helper when using the FEL, since I can easily rig the chain/straps to control the sway of the object. With the Boom Pole the object is more difficult to control once it's off the ground....i.e. working by oneself. 429.JPG437.JPG

I use my boom pole purchased at TSC all the time to 都kid logs all the time
Keep the log low enough where you are doing more pulling than lifting you will be ok. Just use common sense
Have fun with it

Probably a dumb question, but how much lift or range do you get with these? 2 feet?

Thanks

More than that. Maybe double that. The range is adjustable on some using the different holes in the top link spot on the tractor if so equipped.

We had one for decades on our 2wd 40hp non loader tractor. My Dad had the guys in his company shop build one for free. A loader would have cost MONEY! We used it a lot. One guy could carry it and put it on in a few minutes.

Our tractor had no front ballast and non filled front tires, yet the modest lifting force never raised the front wheels.

I have a boom pole but the first time I tried to use it to pull a pole out of the ground it lifted the front wheels of my 8N clear off the ground. Turns out the pole I was trying to pull out was anchored in concrete. D’oh!

That's funny. One second cursing at why the dang thing is so weak and can't pull a little pole....and then, oh....never mind...good tractor.

I learned my Ford tractor's 3pt lift limit trying to move a concrete bird bath :) Just shuddered and wanted something else to move. I've skidded some big logs with it though.
