Yes, Steve and Rosy Brothers is a great operation. I've rented from them before, and was always pleased with their service. It's good to hear of others with good experiences as well!

TalonDancer, those of us in the north country go to great lengths to keep the white stuff so nicely distributed. Loaders, box blades, rear blades...they all work nicely....

Good thing you've got a tractor now. Your white stuff must have been getting pretty lumpy :)

Nice pictures!

What is the length from the front of the loader to the end of the backhoe in the transport position?

I have been considering an L3400 which is 18' with a Woods BH-80X on it. I was wondering how much longer this tractor is for storing and operating.

Thanks and enjoy!

All tucked up my L3240 is just over 20'.

FWIW I do the grease work in the shade of a Costco 10x20' tent. 10' is wide enough to just walk past the BH stabilizers lowered to level (for easier zerk access). But I can't close the tent doors without touching at both ends. So I simply back in with the BH extended. Then pull in with the FEL up. That way I don't have to remove the TUFFTOP and fold the ROPS down.

That looks nice Chris!

The first couple of times you really put her to the test you will most likely have some leaky hydro line connections. Some may weep and leak a little oil, and you may need to tighten them down just a little tighter. It's normal. You may smell the hydro oil at times if it's a small weep.

Did you get a block heater? Any extra remotes? Did they fill the rear tires with ballast? With a backhoe they may not have. With the backhoe off, you may be a little light in the rear, when using just the loader. A heavy box blade or wheel weights will help fix that.

Ahhhh...that new tractor smell....

TalonDancer, is it really 20' end to end? I don't have the backhoe on anymore since I'm moving snow right now, but I did pull it up on my trailer last weekend when it was delivered, just to see how it would fit. My trailer is a 16' deck, and it fit nicely with the bucket placed just in front of the deck on the tongue. It was a tight fit, but the ramps went up and the hoe was NOT hanging off the back of the trailer.

Redbug, thanks for the tip. I have gotten a few whiffs of hot hydro fluid, and figured it was oil burning off from assembly. I'll check out connections and tighten things up.

I did not get a block heater or any extra remotes. I thought about it, but figured I can add remotes later if necessary. As for the block heater, I don't think it's necessary here in our climate. The coldest we usually get in the winter is about -10. We had some 0 degree days/nights last week, and I had no trouble starting it up. I just let it warm up for bit and started using it gently until I got some engine temperature. I rarely plug in my Dodge block heater, and have never had an issue with it starting.

Because I won't always have the backhoe on, especially when using a box blade or grader blade in the future, I did get the rears loaded. I have been quite impressed by the stability of this beast after using an L2900 for a month without loaded tires. That tractor was almost comical on hard packed snow and ice. The L3240 is much more solid and stable with the additional weight and width.

After using it for a week now, I am SO glad that I got the HST instead of the gear. I knew all along that I would be fine with a gear tractor, but now that I've used the hydro for a bit, I'm sold on it. There is no comparison to the ease and accuracy that you can maneuver it with.

The only thing I'm disappointed with is the location of the front headlights. With them being so low, they are useless with the FEL on. I'm really glad I got a pair of worklights mounted to the ROPS.

Maybe the reason you got such a good price was you got a midget L3240 :)

I just walked outside and measured. I have the pallet fork on it now. But my (full size) L3240 measures nearly 20 ft from the QA plate on the pallet fork to the knuckle on back of the backhoe. This is with the backhoe pinned up. My small 66" HD bucket would add a little over a foot to the lip. It would actually be longer if I dropped the BH bucket down for transport.

Hello,
Any body who has a L3240 get the MidPTO option?
I am considering it, but want to know what other's thought?

Nice, I remember when mine was nice and shiny like that. Take lots of pictures now, it will never look that good again! :)
