They're in, I just need to lag bolt the top stringers in, I've just got them nailed now and am letting the construction adhesive set. I'm pretty happy with the way they turned out, the rise is just right for us.
The first step only has the first half of the tread on right now, I'm using 2 pieces of 3/4" plywood for the treads. The first step is going to extend out both to the side and the front, I'm not sure yet if my wife is going to put a diagonal edge on it or round it off.
Now we can get someone out here to float, tape and texture. We were going to try it ourselves but, I don't think my back would let me right now, or at least not quickly enough. We're in a time crunch now, our daughter is moving in at the end of November and all the delays since May have put us way behind schedule. The finish work is where most of our construction experience is so, hopefully it'll go quickly.
Anyway, it's my first set of stairs and I think they're pretty good for a novice. I didn't watch any videos or anything, read a couple of things online, mostly I just kind of figured it out as I went. I wanted a little bit of wood getting the stringers right, all of it scrap that we weren't going to use for anything else because of cupping or splits.
Almost forgot, I know someone will.ask, the 3/4" gap between the tread/stringers and the wall is some can slide the finish skirt in later as a whole piece instead of having to cut it for the steps. We probably should have put that in first but, I wasn't really sure how it would been to be cut before I has the stairs on so, I just left the gap to fill later.
