What are the stub outs under the stairs for? World's smallest bathroom? ;).
Self cleaning and flushing cat box so, sort of.

I'm curious how you're using 9 3/8" risers......maximum riser height in international residential building code around here is 7 3/4".......I'm not familiar with any codes that allow stairs that steep to habitable space......you may want to check with your local code official..........Jack

There is no permitting, inspections or code enforcement in my county of Texas. I can do what I want and if there's a problem with it later, it's my problem.

Sorry to hear that he pain is still bothering you. Hope it gets better soon!!!!

I understand about short stairs and having to adjust to fit a space, but in your picture, it looks like you have a huge jump to make to get up to the landing. The single most important factor in figuring out stairs is that every step is the same, or less then a quarter inch difference of each other. Might even be an eight of an inch in some areas. That difference in height is where almost every accident happens. I strongly suggest that you make sure 1,000% that when finished step is done, that they are all the same distance up from each other. Especially the landing!!!

The math can be really confusing, so I use this website to figure out what to cut stairs at. It looks like you have five steps. It looks like the first step is short, but that might be because of your blocking. But the last step is where I'm seeing the issue. Did you factor it in when doing your math?

I messed up on the landing and mounted the frame where the tread should be, we're just going to frame inside to mount the tread flush with that frame so add 2" to the last riser, for tread and flooring, but only 1/2" to that fist winder stair for the floor.

There is 1 step that 9 1/4", all the rest are 9 3/8.

The first riser is 1.5" shorter to allow for the tread, once that's on and the landing adjustment is made, they'll all be the same and no one will ever be the wiser.

We drew this out on the wall 4 times before cutting a single board.

Proof that stairs can be very confusing!!! Sounds like you have a good plan, and in the end, it will all turn out great!!!

They're in, I just need to lag bolt the top stringers in, I've just got them nailed now and am letting the construction adhesive set. I'm pretty happy with the way they turned out, the rise is just right for us.

The first step only has the first half of the tread on right now, I'm using 2 pieces of 3/4" plywood for the treads. The first step is going to extend out both to the side and the front, I'm not sure yet if my wife is going to put a diagonal edge on it or round it off.

Now we can get someone out here to float, tape and texture. We were going to try it ourselves but, I don't think my back would let me right now, or at least not quickly enough. We're in a time crunch now, our daughter is moving in at the end of November and all the delays since May have put us way behind schedule. The finish work is where most of our construction experience is so, hopefully it'll go quickly.

Anyway, it's my first set of stairs and I think they're pretty good for a novice. I didn't watch any videos or anything, read a couple of things online, mostly I just kind of figured it out as I went. I wanted a little bit of wood getting the stringers right, all of it scrap that we weren't going to use for anything else because of cupping or splits.

Almost forgot, I know someone will.ask, the 3/4" gap between the tread/stringers and the wall is some can slide the finish skirt in later as a whole piece instead of having to cut it for the steps. We probably should have put that in first but, I wasn't really sure how it would been to be cut before I has the stairs on so, I just left the gap to fill later.

The drywall is finally floated, taped and textured. After a false start with a guy who was really in over his head, and wasting 2 weeks, we fired him and hired a different crew to fix his work and finish the float and texture. They knocked it out in 2.5 days, which is the way it should have been. It really shouldn't have been more than a 4 day job.

My wife is priming everything with the first coat now, I've been messing about with the window sills and my new shaper cutters for the cabinet doors. The boss doesn't really care for my window sill profile so, I'll be redoing all of those. I think they need to be an inch deeper anyway so, I'm not too upset about it.

I'm pretty happy with my rail and stile cutters, the cabinet doors should come out very nice.

We're finally at the stuff we have a lot of experience with, I'm hoping it speeds up a lot from here. Dr appointments and pain take up a lot of time still but, a lot of what's left my wife can do alone.

Because things have taken as long as they have, we're going to get a couple of coats of primer done in the addition and then move into the closet so we can get the bedroom that we're in ready for our daughter. We have to be out of the apartment in Houston by 12/7 and she needs somewhere to sleep and keep her stuff. It's just some minor revisions so, it shouldn't take too long. We've already moved the walls and put in the new doors, we just need the room empty to do the rest.IMG_20181004_095817651.jpegIMG_20181005_135727359.jpegIMG_20181005_184921736.jpegIMG_20181006_094855367.jpegIMG_20181006_114429852.jpegIMG_20181006_171243046.jpegIMG_20181006_183448996.jpegIMG_20181006_174853791.jpegIMG_20181006_174859997.jpegIMG_20181006_174904284.jpeg
