Put in the order today: going with the Deere 5055E. At the end of the day it came down to a combination of Dealer and Reputation.

I have read a lot of comments about Deere dealers who simply don't care about the customer. That was not my experience at all. My dealer was very knowledgeable, patient and took the time to follow up on any questions I had. I feel very confident not only in the purchase but with an on-going relationship moving forward.

Picking up a Bush Hog 296 rotary motor and WR Long OBG-1 Grapple to go with it. Probably throw in a set of teeth for the bucket as well.

Appreciate everyone's feedback and assistance. Learned quite a bit in the process.

You know I decided on the 296 back when I was looking at the Mahindra 5035. Dealer told me that was max. Never occurred to me to re-evaluate.

What would be you recommendation?

Well atleast the 7ft(would be just alittle over tire width) and your tractor will handle no problem. I have a 50hp kubota and pull a 8ft and in lighter stuff a 12ft.Just seems small for the tractor maybe just me.I would see what other 5055e owner are using.Do you have a loader?

example:woods BB84x(7ft) is 300lbs lighter than the BH297 and HP req.is 35hp to 90

We have 20-acres on the SC Coast that I bush hog once a year. Most of it is covered with saplings that will not die. Some get to be 3-4 inches in width over 1-yr. Heavy Duty was my main concern in any cutter, because it will take a beating.

Our farm has about 40-acres in fields, but 90% of it we bale. So the trade off of size vs. power (more heavy duty) is worth it to me, even if I am cutting it 4 times more often.

It was a good thought. I really appreciate the feedback.

We'll be dragging the sprayer and round up along with us this year. You'd think I woulda thought of that one sooner.

I'm not the OP, but I bought a 5055E and a 6' mower as well. I would have liked a 7', but the dealer wanted as much for the extra foot as the entire 6' mower. Just was not in the budget - maybe should have purchased a 7' (or 8') somewhere else as a separate purchase.

Congrats on the new machine! That's the one I've been droolin' on for a couple weeks.

I like simple and functional. Other machines have more features, but basic works for me. It has all the speeds I need (fast, not fast, slow) and goes forward and backward. Just wish it had a cup holder.

Thanks!! Thought about Skid Steer quick attach, but WR Long makes a grapple that fits the Deere. Now I need to search the market for used hay equipment (mower, rake, square baler). That and a sprayer,
