Find the Copperhead

Interesting that just a few minutes ago I was watching 3 deer about 75 foot away from my chair here. they are in the woods across the road, and with all the brown leaf background and tree trunks the darn things blend in so well they are nearly invisible when they are standing still, you pick them up with your eye when they move. Yes their camo sure works!

Deer camo is so dang simple you would not think it works but work it does. I remember two bucks that ran passed me and into the woods. I assume the saw me but they stopped in the woods and started grazing for food. If I had not seen EXACTLY where they were standing, I would not have seen them. Only when they moved could you pick them out easily unless you knew right where they were in the woods. I have noticed this many times since. One day I noticed a deer laying on the ground near our barn. The deer must have twitched or I got lucky seeing the deer. I was within 10-15 yards of the deer before it got up and ran.

Amazingly simple but effective camo. I noticed that our deer change color with the season. Now their coat is almost black in color but in the summer it will turn light brown.

Later,
Dan

OMG, i had to google a picture of a copperhead snake to see what one looks like. After seeing the picture, I went back to your picture and my Wife standing next to me said, "I see it!" Then i saw it. My Wife would have had to drag me out of the woods.

Nah, you could probably stagger out by yourself, but swelled up and in a lot of pain..I had one a few inches from my hand while removing old fallen leaves a couple of years back by the front porch. I pinned it down with a rake while the wife got the shovel.. we had pieces of snake when we were done. Fortunately he was not in a biting mood until I pinned him. (understandable) but he sure as heck didn't slither away either at the sight and sound of us, because we were there making a lot of noise and moving material long before I saw him.. Them ole fangs came out and he sure tried to strike me when I was trying to kill him. I was a little shook, in how close I came to him with my bare hand (less than a foot)

I've also noticed they don't move. It is like they think they cannot be seen. When I slowly put a stick close to them they strike it ferociously. Other snakes slither away. Copperheads in the yard are eliminated. My dog has been bitten twice and swells up for two days.
