Finders Fee

Has anyone ever tried offering a finders fee to anyone who helps them locate a specific type of tractor or other equipment they are looking for? Finders fees are a common business practice and since I'll be looking for an older used tractor soon, I thought it might be worth giving a try.

Thoughts?

I set a delivered price that I will give for a particular piece and the quality standards I expect. I don't care how much my buyer gives for the piece. I have a dozen working relationships currently with dealers and individuals in Ky, Tn, IN and AL. Keeps a steady flow of incoming product. Ken Sweet

Plain and simple.
It's a fair price when the buyer and the seller don't feel like they cheated each other.

My thoughts exactly. If incorporating a "Finder's Fee" aids you in locating the specific make and model of tractor that you want, then I think this method is appropriate.

yep.. especially if you are having a hard time locating it yourself.. etc..

i hear ya. I had a guy find me a ford 541 offset and he wanted nothing near that... and offsets are kinda rare for fords...

yea but im talking about high dollar salvage tractors not 600-800 series the newer stuff

If he gave some one 100 dollars he would be doing fine

all depends on what the person wants.

if some guy is looking for a diesel 861 with power steering 'like his dad had'

paying a small finders fee to find a good one is no big deal.. etc.

I know of SELLERS actually offering their tractor for sale.. witht he finders fee as an extra bonus to what they wanted or needed to get out of it.. or as an incentive to move something that was not previously for sale!

The Lancaster Farming magazine has a very popular feature called Mailbox Markets where individuals (mostly farmers) advertise there wares. It's a free service to subscribers, you're allowed two a month, and on a normal week you will find 400 to 600 ads. If you are looking for a piece of farm equipment here in the east that's the place to look.
