I agree if the spindles and bearings are good it should be okay.

Here are the pics with the belt threaded on. Remember it's broken so it's not tight. All the v pulleys line up with the inside of the belt and the flat pulleys match the outside of the belt. 2 things that bother me. One is when we put the belt on the first time we had to cut the slot under the tension pulley to get the belt on. I got the belts from napa and the closet they had was 1/2" shorter.

The second thing is the pipe shims under the idler pulleys. I spent a lot of time trying different combinations to make sure they were the same height as the bull wheel. The first time my mechanic buddy was a little impatient putting it back. That's to say if it was right when we started. They had a bunch of shims under and between them. This time I took more time and made sure they lined up.

Your belt path looks correct imo. I would make sure you have proper travel and tension on the spring and idler. You need to have clearance for the tension idler to move without touching and abrading the belt. Make sure all bearings are turning free and greased. There should not be any vertical movement on the pulleys or idlers. Make sure you have the correct belt width and use a high quality belt. That belt looks to be well seated in the pulley without any tension on it.

If it were me I would remove the blades and set aside while I test run the new belt at idle speed looking for problems. You may have a bearing locking up when it runs and heats up. For tension adjustment just a guess but I would expect to see about 1 1/2 inches maximum deflection measured midway between the idler and lower spindle in your first picture.

Thought I might mention that when checking bearings on pulleys and idlers such as yours I have used a grinder/sander with the rubber sanding pad backup disk to spin them fast enough to see how smooth they turn.

Looks just like a king kutter brand.
