Finish Mowing with a 2520?

Since you have a 2520 with the 62 inch deck........ I'm curious how easy it is to trim around trees and other things in the yard? Is it easy to trim up close, or is the 62 too narrow and the rear tires hit the trees first (when turning of course).
I think I'm after the 72, but I'd still be open to a 62 for sure!
I have the 62D as well, generally the left side sticks out past the tires, so it is not hard to get up close. THe only real issue is actually cutting the circle tightly in 4wd, that can cause problems. But in 2wd and a little left brake, you can cut a pretty tight circle.

Have you considered buying a z465? Its a little more money than the 62" mmm but I find it mows so much faster. The ground speed is NOT faster but trimming and turns really are much faster. I cut my mowing time by 1/3. Plus it keep hours down on the tractor. Btw, I don't find my 2320 makes any noticeable damage to my lawn. I also don't mow grass when it's wet, I guess some might have to because of climate.

I just thought it makes more sense to use my tarctor for everything instead of storing, maintaining, etc 2 machines.
I like the idea of the Yanmar doing the work too! I love the 2520, and think it would be enjoyable to mow with.
Not really any other reason yet! Lol

Let me tell you the ztr is so fun to mow with, my wife and I fight to do the job. Only the bumpy ride slows you down.

You cannot get the 72" deck in a drive over, not enough clearance between front and rear wheels to make it work since the deck it longer than the 62. TO remove it you almost need concrete or asphalt and turn the wheels sideways and it will almost roll itself out from under the tractor. The 3pt controls the height. You can lock the deck up most of the way with 4 pins and a couple short pieces of chain at the rear of the tractor, I'm going to go to the hardware store and get a turnbuckle so I can lock it up tight. There's two brackets that hook from the back to the deck and then to the tractor. Then you have your front arms like on most any other tractor.

I mowed with my 2720 with R4 tires and the 62D mmm. If you park on cement or blacktop and slightly over inflate just enough to keep the shoulder of the tread off the paved surface worked well for me. I was very happy with how it performed mowing.

I'm with megaboz... The deck sticks out enough on the left side for me to cut right against trees, etc. I deal more with the ROPS vs. branches actually. It doesn't turn tight enough to make it around a small tree without backing up, but that just takes a few seconds and you're back underway again. It is certainly not as efficient as a zTrak, but I knew that getting in to it. I considered one instead of spending $3k+ on a deck, but my back yard has some steep spots and 4wd is usually a must in that area.

I could barely (well not even barely, I just wanted it!) justify a 62" deck for only mowing my 2 acres of grass, so I never even looked at a 72". My next door neighbor has one on his 3520 though and it's huge! Very cool, but huge :)

I've had my 2520 with the 62D since they came out in the fall of 2006. I mow the 2 acre lawn around the house, then head about a mile down the road and cut my dad's 5 acre field/lawn. I'm in southern Ohio and the only time the R4's leave a mark is early spring, and they disappear within 24 hours. I've used a 5 foot rear finishing mower (Woods) that my dad has for his still running 8N when I broke my 62D (hit a stump in the woods with blades running... so had to replace belt and a blade. I like the MMM better, but only slightly so. I take my deck on and off a few times in the summer, to use the loader in the woods. I got ride of zero turn and small JD lawn tractor so I was only maintaining/storing one tractor. Love the cut the 2520 does, my terrain is uneven in points, lots of trees and it works great.

I mow 3.5 acres with my 2520 and 62D. I chose the 62D because of the ease of removing and attaching it. My 2520 has R4 tires, and I don't run into problems tearing up the grass unless the ground is super wet, or I have it in 4WD.

I bought the 2520 to avoid having, storing and maintaining two different pieces of equipment. My 2520 also has a 200CX FEL and a rear blade, so it does a variety of other duties.

I think the 2520 is really a great mowing machine because it's still not too big to maneuver, and the hydrostatic drive makes for quick reversing. No, it's not zero turn by any means, but it does all the things I need in one package.

I have a friend with the rear mount mower. He hates it, when you go over the crest of a hill, the mower lifts off the ground because the 3 point does not have enough travel to stay in contact with the ground. I suppose you could use chain as a top link to "fix" the problem but I don't care for that option.
