Re: Toddler
Toddler,
I generally try and be polite to those who express opinions that defy common sense or fact, generalizing beyond their experience, and in addition demonstrating a high level of hypocrisy, so here goes, briefly.
These comments cover things not addressed in previous replies to your post.
I am not aware of any NRA statement that is contrary to implimentation of the National Instant Background Check system. In fact, it was the NRA's idea. What the NRA and it's members oppose are waiting periods and registration. This is fact and contrary to your statements.
'Handgun users have a problem with missing their target a lot' !? A statement along a similar vein would be that "doctors charge patients too much". Both are obviously overgeneralized statements.
The reason one doesn't carry openly in a crowded grocery store is because it would be too easy for a criminal to grab it. It is definitely better that an assailant cannot assess your capabilities prior to an attack.
Which brings me to my final point. Do you carry a sign with you at all times that says " I am trained in martial arts"? I mean, I can't look at you and tell that your body is a trained weapon. But you know what, I don't care, because I know you are a law abiding citizen and should be able to do that kind of stuff. I wonder if everybody who receives martial art training uses it for good however . . .
I realize that working with the dregs of society might have jaded you to the wonderful things this country has to offer, like freedom. Just try not to let it affect your civility in the future. Opinions are everywhere, but I have little patience for those based on emotion, rather than fact or experience.
