I believe he is talking about a homemade cyl.

Not sure if that standard applies.

What went wrong with the first cyl.

had not time to mount the new cylinder..all afternoon trying to find an harvester bar..here in portugal that is not easy..find it and buy it..oregon solid harvester bar jet fit 18HX, 75cm, 0,80 gauge, .404 pitch chain, and a 12 tooth new sprocket..

i think is called inductive sensors..they detect metal through a magnetic field, sending an electrical signal..we can do whatever we want with this signal..in splitter cylinder case, when it almost reaches the full stroke, the given order is to retract..all moving parts have this inductive sensors, and in AUTOMATIC MODE, we can do whatever we want, so..automatic mode push the log foward, until it stops in lenght measure cylinder at the end (here there is another type of sensor to detect if the log is already there)..clamp go down, and cut fase begins..the cut log is push down with another cylinder, that have a sensor to tell the Beast it already can advance, because have wood to split! :)..when retraction begin, automatic mode push the log foward again, and so on..until the last cut..can´t put it automatic..didn't figure out how to do it..:(

well..don´t know if i can test the new cylinder with 11000 PSI!!!!!..what do you mean with "exploding cylinder"?!?!? explode means explode!?!?..

Yes, the two pumps will function exactly as you said! low pressure high volume, low volume high pressure!

nothing went wrong with it, J.J..it simply was not big enough, that is what was told in the shop..if this is not working, we have do make another one, bigger..:)
we already talk about this..i donエt think the problem was in the old cylinder, but..engineer does..

What's the diameter of the log in the video? I think you should be able to split that easily. Does it work good with pine or other type of wood? I think something is not set right with the dual pump valve.

400 mm..

we have split other eucalyptus diammeters, like 200mm or 300mm..but even this were to rought for me..maybe the high volume lo pressure pump is set to high?

I am not sure, I would say that the pressure to switch between pumps is not set right and it may cause interference between the two pumps.

I think I said this before but if it was me, I would only run the high pressure/low flow pump until you know everything works and then install the other pump and see if it still works. One pump eliminates many possible problems and lets you verify that this pump is set up properly.

I still have not seen an pressure figures when splitting, or even testing.

It is hard to believe that the old 6 in cyl or the new cyl would not split with a pressure of 3000 psi developed.

6 in cyl = 84,823 lbs, or 42 tons

7 in xyl = 115,453 lbs , or 56 ton

If your pumps have the capability and the cyl is working, you should be splitting any/all wood.

Show me some pressure with cyl stroke at max. Short video would be great.

What were the results in testing the new cyl.

we were not able to mount the cylinder today..we have got lots of problems with new harvester bar..have to rebuild almost all mount parts to properly fit the new 12 tooth sprocket and the chain lenght..and was not finished yet..:(..and, by my calculations, we will have about 160 ft/sec (witch is too much, i think), and only 104 in lbs of torque (think divided by 2, because we have 2:1 ratio pulleys)..so..i think torque will bee too poor..

maybe only on monday we will be testing the new cylinder..the weekend will be to rest..maybe at the beach..:)
