Here is a status update on the Firewood Processor
Have made ​​the bench as the conveyor belt will be mounted on a rack that will sort the wood chips and bark from the wood. And after reading online about the frustration around the auto cycle valve, I have decided to go for the mechanical solution to the problem, not quite finished with the mechanism and fine-tuning but you should get an idea of ​​how it works.

Have been a bit much to do in the past month since my dad died, but had got done some work on the firewood processor. Have been making ​​rollers that will be in each end of the infeed conveyor, made bracket to the hydraulic motor to the same conveyor belt. As you remember, I wanted to have an easy way to change the split between 4, 6.8 og12 so I've started on the shaft to rotate the wedges. Also sends a picture of the welding table, my plate at the top is almost 2 and a half inch thick. Never need to be afraid that it will be a dent in it when I massage a piece of steel into submision with a sledgehammer

That's really awsome. I started collecting parts to build my own then I pulled the trigger and went and bought one. Now I'm trying to figure out a method to handle the firewood efficiently. Been thinking of using 1/4 cord metal baskets (49 cu. ft) to process into that have like pallet bottoms to it that can be moved around using a forklift. Maybe big enough so that they will still be stack-able. They even have rotating forks now Rotators Wholesaler & Wholesale Supplier From Usa - Bolzoni Auramo Incorporated so that you can use the attachment to move the basket with but also use it to DUMP baskets. That with a heavy conveyor and big hopper might really make a firewood operation very efficient which is something NO ONE has EVER accused a firewood operation of being. I found these on craigslist 275 Gallon Plastic Water and Waste Oil Tanks that are 51.48 cubic ft. each and can be had for $100 or less each. As the tanks aren't much good to me maybe I can get the ones with damaged tanks for much less. Any ideas?

tbutman, that 275 gallon container you found on CL is called an IBC, or international bulk container. They are used to ship various liquids overseas on freighters, hence the reason they have the stackable, palletized frames. Those are found everywhere on the local craigstlist in my area, but they typically go for $50 to $60. Maybe they are higher in your area, but that's the going rate down here in the south. If you look a little harder, you might be able to find some in that price range. Just thought I would pass that along.

edit: I have seen people take the frames off of these IBC's, straighten them out, and use them for fencing!

Those frames being so plentiful would make it easier to gather about 40 of them. Which would be about the ideal number for me. They would also be quite instrumental in using a tractor trailer (trailer) for a dryer i'd think. This would greatly decrease season time and allow for a quicker turnover. Thanks for your input Kebo.
