Re: FIRST CHOICE IMPLEMENTS-FIRE SALE 2002 SALE

Hayking, "There is always a catch" ?? I went to Carvers website and looked in the fineprint. Stated in the warranty section of the website, is the following: "The distributor does not have a stated, written, or specified warranty what so ever." and for customers that have a problem with the product and need to return it for credit. The stated policy is: "The shipping cost to you. And back to us. will not be refunded." I Have bought 2 First Choice Implements from dealers in Ky and Tn and I got a full 1 year manufacturers warranty aganist defects in material and workmanship and Guarantee for a full refund, if not fully satisfied. This may partially explain the lowball pricing from Carvers?? Looks like No bargains here afterall.

Re: FIRST CHOICE IMPLEMENTS-FIRE SALE 2002 SALE

That equipment sold by Carver's which is built by Midwest is still backed by Midwest. We always stand behind what we make regardless who happens to sell it. If Carver's or FC doesn't take care of it contact me.

Of course, I must give my standard disclaimer. The other FC equipment built by other mfg's I can't speak for. You would need to take that up with FC.

Re: FIRST CHOICE IMPLEMENTS-FIRE SALE 2002 SALE

JimMc, The FC implements that I purchased were a roto tiller and finish mower. How is a potential buyer to know who makes what and if it is warranted or not. I am assuming the warranty that Carvers has posted on the website applys to all FC that he sells (including imports). How is a layman to know enough to make a intellegent choice?

When I bought my FC finish mower, I watched the guys in the Kioti Dealership shop assembling FC Finish mowers. They said it took 1 man 4-5 hours with the right tools to assemble a mower like this. The Shop foreman said thier Dealership had it down to 2 hours after assembling over 100 machines. I never seen so many parts!! You did know that Carver ships unassembled. If you order, Hope you get all your metric bolts and special pins. Most are special application parts and you cant find those any place else. I paid a little more for my mower but it was worth it to know the machine was properly assembled and had the right lubricants at the correct level etc.

Thanks for the heads up. I forgot to ask what self assembly may entail. Of course i could just drive on up to Carver's and pick one up fully assembled I suppose. Perhaps I'll ask Steve what an assembled pick-up price is.

If your watching Steve, is there an assembly charge? I know your ad said it wasn't to save on shipping, so are pick-up ones ready to go?

I bought two First Choice items in unassembled form, an aerator and a tiller. The aerator was no big deal to assemble, you just bolt on the mounting hardware. The tiller had less mounting hardware than the aerator, and I'd guess you could get it attached in 10 minutes. Depending on your tractor you might have to chop off a bit of the PTO shaft (I did). It does take some time raising and lowering the tiller till you get confident enough to attack it with a hacksaw. Adding oil to the right level is easy. I wouldn't pay much to have a dealer assemble these for me (and I'd pay even less to have them assemble a boxblade).

I have personally assembled at least a half dozen of the Sicma FC mowers by myself. If someone is getting paid 4 to 5 hours to assemble 1, I would fire them! Maybe 30 minutes, tops. All with simple hand tools. With the exception of the gearbox and spindles, there's not 4 to 5 hours involved in fabricating one from scratch fully assembled. We actually didn't have 30 minutes in the assembly of the very first one we got.

Re: FIRST CHOICE IMPLEMENTS-FIRE SALE 2002 SALE

As I said, I can not speak for First Choice. Midwest currently builds the rotary cutters, aerators, box blades, rear blades, landscape rakes, and bale spears First Choice sells. We warranty those items whether First Choice or the dealer does or not.

Midwest has been in business since 1989 and has never left a customer hung out to dry, whether the product was a $300 box blade or a $250,000 equipment design and install. This is a fact we are very proud of and have built our reputation on.

You don't get to do work for folks like Toyota North America, Toyota Austrailia, Nissan, Ford, ALCOA, Richards Wilcox, and many others by being flaky.
