Re: FIRST CHOICE IMPLEMENTS-FIRE SALE 2002 SALE

Thanks so much for helping us Fine Tune our new marketing effort.

Very good info. I agree-> the finishing mower is a pain to assemble out of the box. We will use your advice and advise shoppers accordingly and offer an assembly service up-charge for and additional $50. During the sale period. This may cause approx. one week delay in ship time.

The other implements are a whole different story. Usally very little work required to assermble the hitch tower and maybe a little more.

We are happy to pass on any warranty consideration from any of the mfg. that is willing to - PUT IT IN - NO FLUFF-WRITING.
Our experience is -> implements all most never have warranty issues.
We have not had any, I know of, with FC, Befco, and just a couple with others during the past five years.

If there is a chance for an expensive repair, it would be with the PTO components. We, privately, offer to cover that area in our written statement.

As far as the comment -> Looks like No bargains here afterall.

sc- As before stated and after 43 years in business->
We encourage every shopper to find the best info and values you possibly can. If find another outfit that works harder for your hard earned dollars and puts in all in writing -- better than we do.... Give'm your order.
If find another outfit that works harder to give you good shopping information and timely response to your concerns and request -- better than we do.... Give'm your order. They deserve it.

You'll always be welcome to visit us.

Best wishes, have fun and please BE SAFE,
Steve

Re: FIRST CHOICE IMPLEMENTS-FIRE SALE 2002 SALE

machinedoc,

From talking with Jim at Midwest and Steve and Al at Carver's I feel all will do whatever they can to make things right but I don't anticipate any problems either. Steve is offering excellent prices on product and Al has done a great job finding the best deal on freight.

As far as actual written warranty I don't know what that is worth. In my experiences it is all up to the dealer to make the call on
warranty service. And from this board it seems Carver's has worked hard to keep their customers happy. I'll let you know if
I find out otherwise.

I have personally assembled at least a half dozen of the Sicma FC mowers by myself. If
someone is getting paid 4 to 5 hours to assemble 1, I would fire them! Maybe 30 minutes,
tops.

JimMc, The dealer said the first one took 4-5 hours and the FC Finish Mowers now take 2 hours each. I went out this morning and counted the assembly parts on my FC F Mower and I counted 100 total parts in the assy proces. How can anyone do that project in 30 minutes? However, If the 30 minutes is correct, then Carvers is charging $100 per hour for the set up labor and adds a 1 week delay in shipping, according to his post. Something dont jive here. I appreciate your trying to put a prop under FC, and It is always good to know the longevity (history) of a dealer or manufacturer, that does help make the consumer make a informed decision. I am a realistic person and try to gain knowledge by observation, I have noticed that over 50 Ag Related Equip dealers and 5 ag equip mfgrs(counting the "majors" and the "gagage behind the house" types, all inclusive) have went out of business in a 50 mile radius of my home in the last 30 years. Most all ag equip. mfgrs are only 1 or 2 cancelled contracts away from closing the doors. This is because of the competive nature of the business and the volitility of the ag related economy.

Good morning machinedoc,
Happy Friday!
Thanks for the kind remarks.
Sometimes the best exercise some of us get, including me, is jumping to wrong conclusions without the benefits of all the facts.

I very much-agree with you.
We are able to do a finishing mower assembly in approx. 45 min. due to our being experienced with the task.
Our average customer, who has NEVER ever assembled a Fin. Mwr. could be overwhelmed by the same task as mentioned by a poster yesterday.

The rest of the story is, in order to have the opportunity to do the assembly we have to drive 2 hours to pick up the unit from the direct-ship warehouse and bring it back to our store-shop. OR pay the $30.-$60. cost to have it shipped here, before we assemble and then forward ship to the buyer.

Our cost is at least $100. +, but we have added only$50. during the sale period. In a few weeks, we'll bump it up a little.

READ ALL ABOUT our concerns to make all the info possible about assembly at-> http://www.carverequipment.com/firstchoice/FC_assembly_info.htm

Regarding assembly, I assembled my 6' FC mower in about 3 hours. I did this in our new barn on an uneven dirt floor at our new place without the ideal tools being where they should be & no work bench & no preparation. We were just moving in when the mower came. I also am not much of a mechanic. If I did it now in my garage, I think that it would take 2 hours tops. As far as the 100 pieces, that may be counting every washer, nut bolt & pin, but I wouldn't have guessed that many parts just from recalling the assembly. The charge would have been $40 for me to get it assembled, but don't regret not paying for it. I would think that dealers could assemble them in an hour or so... IMHO /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
All that said, it is a good mower...

Brett
I got my 60” Core Aerator from Carvers Fall Sale. After calling around southeastern Michigan and not finding one. Carver delivered one in less than a week. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I was very pleased with the quote from Carver for the implement but the shipping charges were 50% of the cost of the implement. /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif
So I ended up buying locally.
