Re: first choice & Fort

There is allot of different MFG stuff out there that works but the dealer is the key. Education & proper assembly makes a customer a happy customer. In this day in time many of the people using tractors and implements did not grow up on a farm having established the skill and judgment in operation of both the tractor and implements. A dealer today must spoon feed many of his customers and hold their hands and make the items work in front of their eyes. Most of the MFG stuff out there is good for its intended purposes. I grew up in a time when the large hay baler was introduced. My family bought one just on the sight of round bales setting in a Iowa field after 2 months of summer rains that had not damaged the hay. We just were tired of 100,000+ square bales a summer. The only thing was Vermeer in 1972 had only one prototype baler and was taking orders for their first production. We bought one, the first one East of the Mississippi River, and now some 30 years later we have sold over 2000 New Vermeer balers and countless used balers of all makes. A dealers life blood is satisfied customers. A good dealer make the stuff work not the customer service in Wilson,NC or any where else. A good dealer knows the proper application to a customer's needs. Find a good dealer and they will have good products because they don't have time for junk.

It seems that first choice has a pretty good name for quality. I cant find a dealer here in my neck of the woods so I guess I will have to stick with bushpigs for now.

Recently, That new First Choice 48 machine has been purchased by 2 or 3 TBN guys from sweets for $595. At $875 that dealer of yours, must have made $500 profit. Obscene!!

machinedoc,

We've been trying to buy one from Sweet Tractor since the 17th of Sept when we called and gave them our CC number. No luck so far and no returned calls either /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif.

Good luck,
Michael

hazmat,

You must have gotten lucky with Sweet Tractors. Glad you like the aerator.

Just wishing I had one,

Hi pcmem, I have been on Sweets lot and met Ken and Greg in person, when I purchased my tiller. They are both as straight and honest as they come. I can almost guarantee you that they must have a problem of inventory not arriving from manufacturer as scheduled. Ken mentioned to me a few weeks ago that some of the imported parts needed for some of the products they sell got hung up on the west coast, with the union strike at the ports of entry. Something out of thier control, you can bet on that. If you need to contact Sweets, I have found that emails are best. Ken even answered 1 of mine after church last Sunday.

machinedoc,

We gave them a CC# after a second quote for a tiller and aerator in Sept. Greg called back and spoke to my wife to say they had the aerator in orange but didn't have the tiller and it would be two weeks to get in orange or take it then in red. She said to wait. We checked back and they still don't have the tillers in orange, and they sold the aerator to someone else, cancelled our order and never called or wrote /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif.

You're correct about the emails and I'm trying to get a straight answer to see how they are willing to make this deal right. I hope you are correct and they follow through.

Thanks,
Michael

Hi Michael,

I saw in your profile that you have a BX 2200. I have a BX 22.

I called Sweet Tractor yesterday and talked to Ken about a 48" FC tiller in orange. The only 48's he has are red, but he said he had 57" (maybe 58) in orange.

Have you considered the 57"? Do you happen to know if it will work on our size tractors?

Thanks,
Paul

Paul,

The 57-58" would probably work but it would depend a lot on the soil and how deep you're going. I think it will be too big for our conditions. The color doesn't matter a whole lot but it would be nice to get orange since they were supposed to get them in. In any case he sold the aerator we ordered to someone else and doesn't have any more /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif.

Thanks for checking,
Michael
