Robert,

She's very cute!!!! Like always, another great picture. Have you ever been to the website Picaboo - Photo Books and Cards ? It's the very best way that I've ever seen to create a photo album. Steph has thrown away all the scrap booking stuff that she's spent hundreds of dollars on because this is so much easier and faster with much, much better results. We HIGHLY recomend it.

School started two weeks ago for us, but we're in the sixth and second grade this year. For me, I start out my day standing out in front of our place with the kids waiting for our school bus. For whatever reason, we're the third one that comes down the road. I bring my cup of coffee and for about five to ten minutes, visit with the kids one on one. It's a nice routine and a good time to talk to them without any distractions like TV.

Hmmm.... lets talk again in a few more years. A few years ago my oldest challenged me to a 1/4 mile cross country ski sprint. She beat me by 40 yards and was laughing loudly as I choked on the cold air searing my lungs. Then we went home and she beat me in a game of chess. Stronger AND smarter. She was 12!

Robert, take it from me... you are doomed! :D

Well, I wasn't the fastest before I got hurt and I know she can easily beat me in a race now so I am not too competitive with her. She has fun and that makes me happy:)

I have never spent much time learning chess but I am fairly good at checkers so when she can finally beat me at checkers then I will be even more proud:)

I have never been much of a scrap book person. I take a lot of pictures and put them in photo albums so I will always have them even if I lose all the copies of the file. My mom bought me a school years book where I can put her school picture for each year in it as well as write notes about her favorite things for the year, kind of like a baby book for school.

Here is a pic you might like, after I brought Ava home from school yesterday my grandfather called and needed my father to go pick up a mini excavator he bought from Darin (Darin Ray on here). Well, Ava and I went with my dad when he came back with it to take it to my grandfathers and after it was unloaded Ava drove it up the hill and put it to work in a small gravel pile. I do not have any of the video loaded yet but here are a some still pictures.

From the looks of it, you, your father and your grandfather will get no seat time from now on. :D

Well, that is my grandfathers machine and to be honest, none of us are jealous. Ava loves to run it and you can see her concentration to the job in the one pic. So as she gets older and if she wants to run these machines she is more then welcome to and I will be happy either way. If she is running the excavator that means I can be running another machine getting twice the work done:)

yeah, our first one started PreK this year.........i work in the school system, know most of the staff there and i was still nervous for her......can't imangine how parents feel that doesn't know anyone......

she is very active, vocal, etc but for the first few days she didn't act like herself, so we were worried.......she has, for the most part, come out of it.....

i think a lot of it has to do with there is only one girl in her class and we/she was hoping to make little girlfriends to play with.........i can imangine the conversation, "do you wanna play little mermaid? how about barbie or princess?" and i'm sure all of the boys sneer their nose and say, "do you have any transformers?"

i'm sure she'll do fine.......

so, yeah, you're not alone!:D

We don't have children ourselves but this thread has me thinking how blessed we all are that the children in our lives can grow up knowing what our machines are for and learning how to use them instead of just playing with little yellow toy versions in the sandbox. Not that there is anything wrong with Tonka trucks - they probably have something to do with why I have a tractor with FEL and BH 40 years or so later. ;)

That's a nice picture. And for the topic - been there three times; they just grow up so fast:(

I have a lot of respect for anyone willing to drive school buses. There is a lot of responsibility associated with driving other peoples kids and there are a lot of headaches as well.
