Harv,
Saw you were picking up logs with some bucket forks, can you give some details on those. Is that someting you got from the dealer and how do they attach. That looks like the thing to use to pick up logs. I am looking at buying an L3010 and would like to include it in the purchase. Any info will help.
Thanks,
Mark

Harv, congrats on the new tractor! Nice photos, too... looks like you'll have plenty to do when you get more chances to play... or, uh, work. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

I got the small Gearmore bucket forks. They come in 4 sizes:

Model 1000 has a 1000-lb capacity, is 32" long, weighs 90 lbs per fork

Model 2000 has a 2000-lb capacity, is 36" long, weighs 120 lbs per fork

Model 3000 has a 3000-lb capacity, is 42" long, weighs 190 lbs per fork

Model 4000 has a 4000-lb capacity, is 42" long, weighs 220 lbs per fork

I got the small ones 'cuz a) I was already over budget on the tractor, and b) 90 lbs makes them quite easy to handle.

The attachment end slips over the lower edge of your bucket and then clamps down with a C-clamp style screw-down thingy. I can get both forks on or off in less than a minute.

The ones I got I believe run about $400. My broker guy got me a good price of $350.

I wish I could run out and snap a picture for you, but my baby and I live 150 miles apart. /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

Thanks, Muhammad.

The hardest part so far is mastering that "boy-this-is-hard-work-but-somebody-has-to-do-it" look on my face /w3tcompact/icons/tongue.gif whenever my wife is watching.

Harv,
If you want to keep scratches to a minimum, keep it waxed really well. It allows the leaves, branches, ect to slide instead of dig in to the paint.

People looked at me wierd when I used to wax my truck before going four-wheeling. It made a big difference in the amount of scratches I got.

Waxing doesn't sound weird to me. It's not a matter of vanity -- it's a matter of longevity and resale value. From my recent months of shopping I can tell you that given two tractors of otherwise equal condition, the pretty one will bring the higher price.

That's just the way us humans are wired. /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif

A DC stick welder is nice, but if you really want the set up, get a MIG/Innershield (Flux Core machine). MIG has no splatter and InnerShield can punch holes through 1" plate. Most tractors today are welded with MIG. An AC welder with some 6010 rod will give as much penetration as you could want, in fact the biggest problem is undercutting. For a relatively inexpensive machine, a little Lincoln AC/DC machine is really tough to beat. Rat...

P.S. I would like to know more about Miracle Mike, I'm up near Sacramento. Still considering the Kubota 4610 HST.
