That's the one I photographed through the mirror, the one with the missing zerk. I thought my tractor was going to break in two, until I installed a washer as you are going to do. What a difference.

Once the bolts get tightened you will find that the ball, or swivel, ends of the links have enough play for a thin lubricant to cover the whole moving sections. I don't use a spray lube, I use the same as one of the long time members. I had a lithium cartridge laying around so now I have a screw top jar with some lithium, a clear penetrating oil, [not WD40] and a touch of gasoline all mixed together. I believe all my links are now working in the way they were designed to do.
Thanks all, about the protruding zerk I use the gun often enough to keep checking that one. I figure being able to ensure proper greasing by being able to see no leakage as I pump. is worth an occasional broken zerk.
'Keep up the good surveillance of our problems, as a mechanic there was nothing better than a good old nuts and bolts session.
