First major damage for 4110

I dropped lots of gravel onto the hood of my 4010 in moving 20 or so tons of gravel, but with no damage.

Did plenty of damage to one of my carriage house basement doors with the FEL. Also, I almost ripped away the threshold plate to those double doors a couple of times in forgetting to raise the LX4. No serious damage to either the door or threshold. The door looks like ****. That's all.

Kept bashing those signal and warning lights on the ROPS with tree limbs. Had to replace one. The parts lady suggested moving them to the inside of the ROPS. Did that. Solved that problem.

First one hurts the most ! just like a new truck in a parking lot some jurk will dent it on you. find a aoutobody shop that fixes fiberglass and see if they can put a blowout patch on it for ya. mostlikly it will be less costly than a new hood !

My first damage was backing over a trailer with a Ford 600 Workmaster at the age of 10.

My second damage... was pulling the workmaster back up the hill with a MF240... those front bumpers can be pulled off.

My most recent damage was ripping the canopy off my JD.

My father has me beat, he rolled a tractor a couple of years back, the bank gave way, barrel rolled, used the trackloader to remove the tractor and air lifted to local hospital. He's fine now. The tractor... well it still runs.

oh, not damage but it sure cost like it. We found a natural spring, we were 30 yards from the lake. Dry ground turned to mush, loader fell in and the ground turned dry again. Very strange. It's the 3rd piece of heavy equipment to get stuck in the area. $500 for a tractor trailer tow truck to winch it out.

( Dang it guys, I feel like I am 16 again. I dented my 4110. I was moving some fire wood and I lifted the bucket to high and a log fell and busted a hole in the hood. It was like slow motion, I could see it happening but couldn't stop it.

Now the big question is should I fix it, or should I wait to make sure I don't do anything else stupid.

Boy, I nearly cried when I saw that 4" hole in the middle of my hood. The tractor had just hit the 50 hr point.

What is worse is my wife was standing there so she called the kids over to see where daddy had broke his new toy. My 3 yr old boy scolded me for breaking his "John Jeers".

Anyone else ever feel like an idiot?

Hole? Does the 4110 have a plastic hood? I can still remember that first piece of firewood hitting the hood on my 4100, which is steel. A few dings add character!!

I feel your pain, bounced a log off my hood the second or third time I used it. I added this stuff to help prevent that from happening again.

Yep, that would have prevented all the spillage damage I've encountered over the years. Nice setup!

I would ask the dealer about it. Surely you could drop a log on it and it can take it. :) Who knows, John Deere might take care of you.

JD offered an 'Xtra Armour" and rental upgrade kit for the 4XXX machines when they were first introduced. There may still be some inventory laying around a dealership somewhere, but I think the kit was discontinued. I'm sure the hood guard was about as much as a replacement hood /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

That is a great addition Red Rocker. Did you fabricate it yourself? I think that is probably something that could be done very easily.
