First Oil Change X590 -- Oil Filter Wrench?

OK, thanks for the suggestions. I have the the Deere wrench. Is it necessary remove the side panel to get at the filter and remove it completely. It's a tight fit. If you remove the panel, how? It appears that there is only one screw attaching the panel to the frame.

The panel can be a bit finicky to remove and replace as it's really wedged in there and you don't want to break any of the tabs. On my X500 I just remove the 8mm bolt which holds the panel and then the panel has enough free play to easily get a wrench on the filter and remove it.]

I'm a big fan of this type of filter wrench. It's geared inside so as you turn counter clockwise the teeth bite in. One size fits all.

I have one of those but on the X500 I've been using one of the socket-style filter wrenches that just fits over the end of the filter. It fits perfectly so it doesn't mar up the filter. It also works perfectly for tightening the filter 1/2 turn. Something you cannot do with those geared loosen-only filter gizmos.

I had difficulty doing the same on my new X584. Not much room to turn a strap wrench.

I have several different filter wrenches and the one mentioned above is clearly the best for the X500 filters. It's very easy to slip on and you can also use it to tighten the filter 1/2 turn if needed without marring up the filter.
