What's the reason you want to stay with the smaller bucket?; clearance for the garage door?

I must have missed the reason in the thread

Thanks

I'm just used to a 60 inch bucket with a weak loader. I don't know what problems or limitations I will find using a bucket a ft wider. 66 is splitting the difference.
I have read this tractor with the small engine looses HP. Not sure what difference it will make digging in a pile of dirt? I want the loader really powerful compared to what I was using. I thought the smaller bucket might help the lack of HP.

WaxMan, you're getting the LA724 loader which I understand is very powerful so I don't think you'll have any trouble whatever size bucket you get. It should be day and night compared to the 3030. Stanley

Just for future reference to those reading this thread, there may or may not have been problems with the different size tires (I haven't done the calculations to know). But, I can tell you that the Grand L and the L3200/3800 are based on completely different platforms, so it is not just an "L to L" swap. That said, the L3200/3800 shares about the same gearing as the B3200/3300 since they both use the same size turf tires, and the B3300 uses the same size R4 tires as the L3200/3800.

Regardless, it looks like a nice setup and I think you'll be well pleased with the standard size tires, I really like the Grand L's.

This post got me thinking about something I wondered about back when I bought my B3200 last year - because while I was looking at the B3200, I was also thinking of the B3300SU, and the L3200.

The specs on the B3300 showed it having just a tad more HP, lifting capacity - etc. The major mechanical differences between it and the B3200 appeared to be the lack of a mid-PTO - and the larger tires.

Which left me wondering - what's the big deal with the larger tires? What actual effect does it have on the performance of the tractor? Do you get more traction with a larger tire?

Congratulations on your beautiful new tractor. May I make a suggestion. I would get the 72 inch bucket and then I would get a an old 60 inch bucket that is a take off. One dealer down here says "we have a field full of them old take off bucket from people switching to SSQA" they offered to give me $100 for my bucket but I kept it and converted it to SSQA. I really enjoy having 2 buckets, one larger one for mulch or dirt, and one smaller bucket that is better for digging and flipping out rocks as the power is more concentrated in the smaller profile. Of course it is my "beater bucket" too. Just an Idea, but it is something you might think about, having 2 different sized buckets is nice.!

Excellent point.

I got my B3200 with the 60" bucket. I very shortly afterwards went out and bought the 54" bucket - just to use as a 'beater' bucket for rocks and digging. I also figured I could put a toothbar on the 54" bucket - leave the 60" bucket without one - and then be able to switch between a toothed and non-toothed bucket much more easily - than I could by constantly having bolt or unbolt the toothbar. Since then I've swapped out the Kubota pin type QA setup for the new SSQA setup from the new Bxx50 tractors - and I have to say swapping buckets is so easy there's really no reason now to have a specific bucket for each job.

Take a close look at the pin-on style buckets and the SSQA buckets for your tractor too. The new 60" SSQA bucket from Kubota for the Bxx50 tractors - is the EXACT same bucket as the pin-on style bucket I got with the tractor - except for the fact it has a SSQA style attachment on it. The pin-on bucket could easily be adapted to SSQA by welding on the right stuff.

It might be the same story for your tractor. And if dealers have fields full of pin-on style buckets laying around - it might be relatively cheap to get into some other size buckets - as long as your willing to do a little welding.

That was exactly my thought process getting the 54" bucket for my B3200 - the dealer convinced me to get the 60" - because that was what they had. I later went back and bought the 54". I DO think there is a difference digging with the narrower bucket vs the wider one - but I do use the 60" for clearing snow and so forth.

I would say if you want maximum digging power out of the loader - get the narrowest bucket available for tractor - and put a good toothbar on it. Get wider buckets for other jobs if you feel they're needed.

If you've got the SSQA on that tractor - you'll find swapping them out is VERY easy.

Well she's a full-figured girl now with the stock tires, beefy but for the better. Gained back 3 +inches in height.
My cross size experiment of knocking an L down to a fat looking B tractor didn't work out, but I tried. I'm glad I did because I don't have to wonder about it anymore. While waiting the last few days for the larger tires to come, I kinda got sick of the tractor all squatty looking. I like the backhoe up in the air now.
I'm raising my garage door and it will stay inside and live a pampered life. I'm going to start putting all my modifications on it and keep it looking new for as long as I can (except the buckets).

Just wondering now how it's going to look to people going by the house, me out in the front yard on my hands and knees pulling weeds around the house and placing them in my 66 inch bucket? All the while tractor idling :licking:(tire ruts all over in every direction) corners of the house banged up where I misjudged some turns.

I think I'll let my wife start mowing the lawn now with the zero turn. She'll say it's kinda bumpy, and I could say now you know what I've been putting up with all these years.:confused3:
My B3030 was sold somewhere up near Canada. (I think 4shorts scoffed it up just to inspect my mods, he won't admit it but I think he did):)

I like the stock tires better, they look more proportional. However I under stand what you mean about wondering what the difference would have been if you didn't try it, I have the same issue.

The Last pictures of WaxMan's B3030, Congratulations to the new owner, Not a bad price, I wonder if "Waxing" had anything to do with it? 5 years and 690hrs later, I got back what I paid for it and they made some too.
